This is the kind of game you hang over the fireplace, one that kicks ass. The conversation felt natural, propelling the plot and adding personality in equal parts. The combat was frantic with a Hotline Miami style trial and error feeling, with the awkward yet satisfying swordplay and parries of Nidhogg. The art and music went hand in hand, by themselves they'd feel ten times worse, but the combo is fantastic. I'll buy the first episode for a good amount, this was a lovely experience.

Faster than Doom Eternal, more replayable than ULTRAKILL, more variety than DUSK, better bosses than all three.

Prepare to buy copious amounts of dlc, and sell your soul to satan. Your free time is forfeit. 10/10

Its great, but you have to be okay with dying. A lot. Repeatedly. And you have to be able to speedrun, cause thats how you get the good ♥♥♥♥.

Hell Is Other Demons is a fantastic game. There is a phrase called, "game feel". This game masters it, each enemy has a different sound effect when you hit them, the effects when hitting enemys (my favorite is the Chain Lightning gun, it shakes the whole screen and does a bright flash). The little things, the back round fog trailing behind your character. The music is another highlight, being just hardcore and metal enough to set the mood, but not enough to be chaotic. The variety of weapons, specials, and upgrades makes everything a joy to play again. The levels are amazing, or rather the design of them.
Its usually not the opponents that make a level difficult or interesting, its the level. Whether your only platform is a rotating laser, or there isn't a platform and you have to mario stomp everybody, the level is what makes the experience.

I really like this game, it was a fantastic entry into the magical world of bullet hells. Never did get to the throne, but I didn't even care. If you want to get into bullet hells, get this game. But be warned, game is harder than it looks, so be patient.

I love this game, you don't really need to play the other games (those being the steam world dig games,) to get it. Though I'm sure I've missed a lot of references. Beware, the keyboard controls are a little wonky. I first played this on Ps4, but its easier for trickshots now on Pc.

Overall, 9/10. Definitely worth it.
