Classic Mac and Cheese Recipe
Ingredients:
8 oz elbow macaroni
4 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup shredded mozzarella
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper (optional)
½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
½ tsp mustard powder (optional)
Instructions:
Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth. Simmer until thickened (3-4 minutes).
Add cheeses and stir until melted and smooth.
Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder. Taste and adjust.
Mix in cooked pasta, stir to coat, and serve.
For a crispy topping, bake with breadcrumbs at 375°F for 15-20 minutes.
