9.1 hrs on record
I played the game over the span of two days, taking my time to explore nearly every corner when possible, and getting most of the achievements and such within 9.1 hours, so the game definitely isn't long. A quick play definitely worth trying out if you can get it on sale. Otherwise, can't say I recommend it. The game is very linear, with the decisions you make sounding as though they will impact the future of the game yet ultimately failing to live up to such expectations. The game looks great in some sections, then proceeds to fall short of the previously beautiful graphics you just experienced, and honestly the same can be said with the story itself. Though entertaining and fun to experience, the price of $40 lingers in your head as you realize that the game simply is not worth such money. Openly, the game felt half done, as though the devs were going in one direction then intended to switch directions several times throughout the journey. Some characters' relevance and existence entirely are questionable, as well as a lot of the logic throughout the game. I can't even begin to count how often I sat there watching a dialogue interaction, trying to figure out how they pulled assumptions out of nowhere or how some dialogue options even remotely fit into the conversation. In a way, it could be taken in a frustrated manner as though you payed full price for a movie that you thought would be good and ended up being rather poor, or it can be taken in a comical manner as though you decided to watch a B-rated movie and enjoy poor decisions and interactions. The ending was of a particular sort of let down, especially as a fan of Lovecraft's work, but I don't intend to spoil anything. With regard to gameplay, as expected it plays as more of a walking simulator, but what was unexpected is how little control you have in areas where you would think to have some freedom. Again, I will not spoil, but if you play/see you will know which section I speak of.

TLDR: I anticipated a good "movie", instead I payed full ticket price for a B-rated "film". I recommend waiting for a very good sale, or simply watch a playthrough on YouTube. You'll have as much interaction and decision making watching it in a video as you would playing it yourself.

From mindless fun with friends, to the most complex of contraptions, this game has it all. Essentially you are in complete control of what happens, and can do whatever you want. From creating an endless horde of zombies, to having a gunfight with your friends, to building a master fortress or legendary robot, the options are endless.

Early Access Review
Great game for both mindless zombie killing and/or hardcore survival. Items respawn every now and then, as well as zombies, forcing players to find a home near enough to towns to get loot quick, but far enough to stay away from the undead lurkers. As far as survival system and pack management, this game is great. You have hunger and thirst bars that constantly increase, and if you are forced to eat/drink moldy substances or are simply hit by one of the monsters, you will find your illness bar increase as well. There are items to bring down each of these bars, but in the event they reach 100%, your health will quickly deplete until you die.
The leveling system is neat as well, using exp to upgrade certain attributes to lessen your chances at dieing. (i.e. go longer w/out food & water, or cause less agro and noise) Exp is quick to gain, getting up to 5 points for each zombie you kill. However, the crafting system in this game I, personally, find rather odd. I find that certain recipes should be able to make a number of things, as opposed to just the one it provides. Though I do find the crafting a little bothersome, I do like the multiplayer functions and the fact that if you can find your loot (before it despawns) you can pick it back up.
Ultimately, I give this game an 8/10.

The mechanics are very similar to those of "Diablo." Simple, fast-paced gameplay makes this a great game for short sessions and/or times when you just want to relax and watch media as you play. Characters are fun to play as, and simple to get new ones. Though it can take a rather long time to reach max levels, and gain the currency required to obtain new characters (Eternity Splinters; drop about every 8 minutes), there are boosts and bonuses provided. Server xp boosts are common, and once you level one character to max (60) you gain a permanent bonus for all characters (increases for each character that's max level). You also receive "gifts" each day you log on, some of which being boxes of Eternity Splinters (10).
There is a new character added each month to playable hero roster, along with several villains. Yes, this may make it difficult to gather enough Eternity Splinters to get each hero, requiring hours of gameplay considering the cost of characters vary (200/400/600), but some characters I feel are worth the effort. For example, Spiderman. I find him incredibly fun to play as, and very quick to take out large groups of enemies. However, if you are not willing to put the time in for getting characters, then there are many sales on character packs, which include the characters/costumes/bank slots.
In conclusion, I feel this game is at least worth giving a try. People have different opinions, and so that is why I feel going strictly off reviews isn't always enough. So I would recommend at least giving it a shot.
