In this alternate Portal universe, we learn that Aperture Science went bankrupt because they bought a bunch of 4090 GPU's and radios from Nvidia. The gpu's couldn't fit in their computers and the radios could only play one station/song. GLaDOS became so angry that she killed all those responsible for the purchase with neurotoxin and subjected the rest to deadly test rooms and cake baking.


All-in-all the game looks amazing with RTX, but that doesn't matter much when it's so poorly optimized that you need to downgrade the settings so much just to be able to run it on a 3080 TI. The constant Nvidia product placement and QR codes found throughout the entire game just gets nauseating to the point you'll consider quitting the game before you even finish it. If you want to experience the original Portal, play the original. If you want to sit through a 2-hour, interactive, Portal-themed Nvidia advertisement then play the RTX version.
