The game starts with some excitement and some fast paced progression, though all gets a bit boring when you travel to some village to then be told to travel somewhere else in the next area over. The game gets so much slower and for what reason?

Quests are rarely nearby and you will find yourself walking for the longest time. For a price plan that does not include subscriptions this is in very poor taste as the developer has no real need for you to stay logged on once you have bought the game. Unfortunately after 36 hours of gameplay I have found myself duped into playing walking simulator 2021.

The crafting is excessively time consuming and really unrewarding while levelling. You are either out levelling whatever you are able to make OR you do not have the materials as you have left them in the last village... That's right, each village's storage is separated from the next. Unless your faction is dominant on your server you may struggle as someone who is already on the back foot to name a few issues: you get taxed for not owning the land, you cannot access storage from all areas, fast travel is more expensive.

You might find that the answer to some of my issues would be "just take over the areas" however it is not that simple as trying to get some people to work together on an MMO such as this requires a little bit of coordination, however, this experience is not dissimilar to herding cats...

Combat does not feel fluent enough and swapping weapons feels awkward and clunky. We are blessed with free respecs until level 20 though but I found I had not gotten around to trying out all of the weapon types before then as 1-20 was relatively quick. I am now paying for respecs to find out that the other weapons aren't all that great either.

General questing can be quite frustrating and you can find yourself getting spawned on by skeletons. There is one quest in particular that is actually more difficult than it should be where you fight this boss in a small room and he just drops loads of "avoidable" aoe attacks. Some of the attacks just take up most of the room so you're taking damage anyway. It is a good thing that this is an MMO and you can call on or wait for others to help you. Another example of frustrating quests could be when you kill a creature (that should be, for some reason, on the endangered species list) and skin it for the quest item only for somebody else (yay MMOs) to come and skin your kill thus making you wait and look for more spawns.

I think this game has a lot to work on and as I am aware this is in early release it was unfortunate that none of this was picked up on in the beta as a point of frustration (surely I can't be the only one).

I do hope that these issues are fixed for future iterations of the game though i cannot see myself sticking to this for too much longer.


EDIT:- Get some friends and just chill. Do not race for levels or completing quests. It will be a much more enjoyable experience in some way or form.

Have you played a jrpg like final fantasy and enjoyed it? buy this game!!!
Honestly the fact that this game allows you to start from any one of eight playable characters is quite amazing. YOU CHOOSE where your journey will start and as you go around meeting the other travellers along the way you deploy incredible strategies using some beautiful spells on some incredibly charming sprites.

So far i have played just under 30 hours and i shall probably at least double that! the stories are captivating and i am still intrigued as to how they are all going to intertwine, yes i have played 30 hours and yes ive been grinding it out, i am sure the story can be progressed as a much faster rate but i have really been enjoying both the exploration and the battles.

Interacting with the townsfolk with everyones unique abilities (path actions?) was a very interesting take on the game however with the ever present save points in jrpg's like this we are in fact able to save scum some of the interactions in order to get some of the better loot very early on (not that i have as my time is more valuable than reloading a 3% success rate)

the combat can be very in depth so thinking about who you will take and how you build your characters can be quite important however i do feel there is a lot of leeway in how you do this and even the "weakest" characters have a strong and fun part to play.

Really cool combat once you get used to aim gliding and all the movement. plenty of playstyles weapons challenges and collectables to keep you busy forever!
