Early Access Review
Almost a year since release, the visible pace of development is glacial and the game can only give like 70% of the features of base Sims4. The game itself feels severely sanitized and corporate even though you can do a shallow, cleanroom version of crime.

So far, it severely suffers from the same dollhouse syndrome as its competitor: Nothing ever happens unless it's you clicking, everyone but your zoi is merely an accessory to your life and they don't exist once they leave the loading range.

As it exists, the only way to justify the $$ for this game is to see it as a sort of magical, decade long bet, but the direction already seems set on uninteresting dollhouse mechanics rather than a proper life-sim.

PC is where this thing should've been from the start. Outfit mods are what we do here and this is the game for it with an amazing model to have them on to boot. Other than that, it's a decent soulslike-slasher with a simple but fun story and a nice bit of explorations/secrets to keep you entertained.

There's some light, easily workable issues on Linux, but sceenery quality suffers a lot specially outside famous spots, to the point of being a jarring, highly contrasting feature that looks out of place next to how beautiful the planes themselves look. It does come with advantages: It's much more performant, linux/steamdeck native, the airplanes are gorgeous and the physics are top notch.

If you're looking for everything but scenery visuals, it's here. Sadly, for me it looks bad enough to pass up on.

The Kiowa is a difficult one to judge. The bird is beautiful and very well equipped, but it's almost entirely built around a philosophy of having two people in it, so it's a very hard sell for singleplayer unless you work around and deal with the poor AI control offerings it has.

It's a narrow mission profile and very specialized flying required for it, which I thinks makes it harder to justify the pricing.

The nice thing about this module is that it includes multiple versions of the aircraft, and the price tag is so far mostly fine (but will increase once the F1M shows up). It's not a great air-to-air fighter on modern missions with AWACs around, but if you can sneak around it's definitely a great fire-and-escape tool, and even can have some decent dogfights in it.

What's great on this plane is the range, one of the biggest operation ranges in DCS at all, and combined with a powerful engine, it means you can fly very fast for a long time, deploy a payload, and fly back, ideal for precision strikes against pre-planned targets.

An amazing module at an amazing price. It's looks might be a bit dated, but it's one of the best cold war era fighters to learn and operate and that more than makes up for it. This is not for flying at 40k feet slinging missiles, this is to sneak around, fire a couple shots and leave. Air to ground is decent too for appropriate-era missions, but it's certainly not its main strength.

A challenging bird to operate, with very limited options regarding combat. It's ideal for those who want to play the logistics game, because bombing targets with it or using its rockets is really unfun, and in most cases the rockets are completely useless against armored targets.

The limited mission profiles are what for me make it a hard sell for $50, but discounted it's definitely a must get.

A dreamy plane, but I'd prefer having the air to air version included too (even then, $60 is good, and the discounts are even sweeter). It's great for everything air to ground, but it lacks anti-radar options, meaning you'll have to resort to other methods of SEAD/DEAD like mavericks or visually guided ATGMs, or whatever other magic you can conjure.

My problem with it is that air to ground sorties aren't as fun as air to air, and so I don't fly this one as much.

The only redfor modern option out there. The Jeff is small, underpowered, and uses the boring Screens+UFC philosophy the '16 and '18 already have. It allows for most mission profiles bar cruise missiles, and it isn't as good in air to air, but hey, it's redfor, you have no other option for this period anyways so git gud.

Very recommended, but ONLY on discount (not worth $80 at all).

Pick one between this and the F-18 to save $ and wait for the $47 discount (not worth $80 at all). This plane clearly demonstrates how much of EDs work is artistic freedom and willful ear-covering in regards to the capabilities of western aircraft. If you wanna see a proper representation of the systems in this plane, play Falcon BMS instead.

Inside DCS, this is the more air-oriented, shore-only multirole fighter. However it'll also let you do bombs, ATGMs, SEAD/DEAD and JDAMS just as well as the '18, but it'll lack the cruise missiles. Remember that this fighter uses a Screens+UFC philosophy, which is mostly the same as the '18 and the JF-17, so having and rotating through the three modules can get boring fast. Outside that, she's a dream to fly and computerized controls make everything easy mode.
