Cultural appropriation at it's best. What is all this asian stuff? A katana, seriously? The developers sure have some kind of yellow fever.

There is no diversity in this game. Only white people. Seriously? Racist game.

Update from my 2017 review.

From my previous review, I said that I had many crashes and it is just unplayable with a high end PC. (Which is unacceptable since a game is supposed to be playable on launch)

It is now 2021, I upgraded my computer and it has been fixed, I can run the game smoothly at 60FPS with a 2K resolution and unfortunately that's the only thing that improved...

I've tried to like this game, I really did. BUT the bugs and the overall gameplay is just a massive joke. There haven't been any game of DayZ where I did not encounter any bugs. I tried my best to ignore it and move on.

The difficulty of this game is very hard in a unpleasant way, the zombies literally have a wallhack and are far more intelligent than most of the players I met. They can also teleport and go through doors. Talking about the community, almost everyone is toxic but there is always an exception of course.

The learning curve is hard, I literally had to look up on the Internet if I wanted to learn something about the game. As a video game this shouldn't happen. A video game is supposed to teach you how to play it, not the community teaching you how to. The UI in itself is just like the game, it's messy and it will take time to be used to it.

Overall, this game can be great and even be worth the GOTY. I've been a fan of DayZ since the Arma 2 mod and seeing it's state now, I am disappointed.

I just ran Cheat Engine and hooked it in this game to make me banned so I don't have to play more of this crap in the future.

If Hitler was a developper, he would make this.
