Bethesda had the difficult task of taking a beloved isometric RPG series and reimagining it for a new generation. Their strengths are on full display in Fallout 3 with their fantastic environmental story telling and world building. Even after nearly 15 years, there are still moments that make you want to just pause and take in the atmosphere that is the Capital Wasteland.

Some of the mechanics of this game have aged like fine milk, I'm looking at you shooting and crafting mechanics, but there are so many great features that made their way over from the original games. Fallout 3 includes both a karma system along with skills that allow you to build out a custom character and roleplay.

If you're thinking about picking up this game, I'd certainly recommend it (Pick up the GOTY edition to get the DLC including Broken Steel which "fixes" the ending of the game and ups the player level cap) with some caveats. This is not a shooter, it's an RPG where your character's skills matter far more than your own abilities.
