"Merciful God, you have sent me an Apostle! Guard your life son, you have a calling..."
The not-so-abandoned Mount Massive Asylum has been the scariest place i have ever ventured in through video games. As you feel like you're about to escape, you're only treading deeper into the abyss of blood trails and the screams of patients. Given that I bought this game to be terrified and genuinely thrilled by the experience, it never let up on the scares. Playing alone in the dark with headphones on gave me the full blast of fear, and by the end of the game I literally had my mouth gaping open at what had just happened. There's so much more to the game as you traverse further and further. Some tasks required me to make my way to somewhere, while others required that I turn on several switches around the place (which i admit was tediuos work, but I mean just walking from point A to point B past the person chasing you takes the fun out of things) The story was more in depth than I had initially believed, and it made the game much more interesting. With several characters hunting after you, there's no time to waste as you try to make it out alive.
No doubt the best horror game I have ever played, and although some might tell me Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a scarier game, I feel like Outlast would give it a run for it's money. Play if you dare.
