Final Fantasy III is very good but dated. The jobs are fun but the lack of any real story makes it the feel pretty hollow. It's still worth playing if you're a Final Fantasy person who wants to beat them all. If you're looking for something closer to the FFs of more modern times, start with 4.

If you have missed Mario Kart because you don't want to buy a Switch 2, this will satisfy.
It can get REALLY hectic and the drifting is not the same, but it's fun.

It's Final Fantasy 1, but better looking and with boosters in case people are just curious.
Hell, you can even turn off XP and Gil to make things barely possible for yourself.

End of the Day, if you're looking at this game you already know what it is and if you're curious about playing it, I say DO IT.

Grandpa High on Retro is a right laugh and a retro throwback style third person shooter with a savage sense of humour made on apparently no budget, and is surprisingly playable if imperfect.

STORY
The story is incredibly simple but not in a bad way. It's almost as simple as Mario climbing a building to save Pauline, that kind of simple. Grandpa receives a phone call from a mysterious woman who offers him certain 'favours' in exchange for him coming out of military retirement to gun down waves of 'feds' and save her. There is a twist, but most people will probably see it coming.
Grandpa as a character is the central joke of the game, a foul-mouthed bong-ripping brutal son of a gun who welcomes the prospect (the line "grandpa is f**king tonight!" is enough to express that), and leaps into action with his grandson along for the adventure.
Tonally, the game is a little inconsistent, with most of the jokes being at the front and end of the game, apart from some amusing one liners from Grandpa as he explores the later levels. For a while I forgot I was playing a joke game.

GRAPHICS/STYLE
Obviously, this game has chosen to go after a retro style PS2-esque graphical model, and that's a stylistic choice that works really well for it. It looks fine in 1080 but I wouldn't go higher unless you want to start seeing the cracks.

GAMEPLAY
It's a standard third person shooter. Grandpa can walk, run, crouch to hide behind things, jump, sprint, slide and roll (most of which a guy his age probably shouldn't be able to do). The shooting is pretty tight and works well. I should point out that I played it using a keyboard and mouse combo. There's nothing new here, but also no need to reinvent the wheel.

SOUNDTRACK
From what I understand, A.I. music and voiceover were used to make this game, and while that shows, it also adds to the hilarity when characters are roboticly extolling the curves of the woman Grandpa is questing after.
Make no mistake, the sound is absolutely not the focus of this game, but there are moments where the music actually does provide some tension and atmosphere.

ISSUES
The enemy AI can be a bit crazy, with guys running full tilt at you through narrow doorways and blindsiding you while you're preparing to enter a room. It gets pretty annoying but to be fair the game barely punishes you at all if you die, so you'll forgive these quirks pretty quickly if you're anything like me.
I had an issue with using my DS4 controller that made me switch to keyboard and mouse. I can't say if that's my issue or not though, so make of it what you will.

CONCLUSION
Grandpa High on Retro is basically a long demo, or perhaps a proof on concept from a creator I hope I'll see more from if he is able to get a budget together from people supporting this game. If what I've said above has piqued your interest, help support indie gaming by playing this, even if it's just for the memes.

It's Oblivion...but Remastered. You should know that means it's really really good and lots of fun to revisit.
If you haven't played the original, you really should if you enjoy rich and deep RPG experiences.

It's a faithful remaster of two of the greatest examples of one of the greatest eras in gaming history. Nuff said. If you've ever heard of this or played a JRPG, get it immediately and thank me later.

It's Metal Gear Solid 2. You already know why you should absolutely play it.
I wish they had sorted out the controls for modern control styles. Triggers for triggers etc.
But screw it, you can still play it if you take a few minutes to reacquaint yourself.
Use a pad you're comfortable with.

Great fun game and a huge timesink. Don't listen to crazy people who think this is Pokemon plagiarism, it's more of a survival/base-building sim with pokemon style creatures woven into it all.
