An elegant solution to "Activate Windows Now," with awesome features and community workshop items. 10/10.

What a great game. Enjoyable mechanics, so many weapons, and hilarious physics somehow boil down to some suprisingly serious gameplay. While I wish there were more players per game (currently only 40), I still think this game is really fun. There are quite a few issues currently being ironed out, such as server problems and game performance, but I still find myself weirdly engrossed into the gameplay. While it isn't perfect, it pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Suprisingly, this is my opinion. Don't get your hats in a twist.

Abstract
The idea behind the game seems as if it would make for some good fun. Well, the game is fun. Unfortunately it's taken a turn for the worse. Now it's constantly being ruined by bad updates, and if you fall into the same hole as I did-all the microtransactions of hats, skins, etc. will ruin it too. Playing this game will most likely empty your wallet, as you will be scrambling to buy hats, weapons, keys, passes, and more. But not only hats et al. will soil your experience. The updates are procedurally getting worse, with the addition of "Counterstrike Fortress 2 (Tough Break, Gun Mettle, etc)." Hopefully, if you do decide to play this game, you won't run into these problems, and you will be able to enjoy the game for what it is.

Compatibility
The game at least runs farily well, as long as you have some RAM (≥4GB), and a midrange processor (No graphics card needed!). On my old Mac Mini, the game ran fairly well, with occasional freezes that lasted for 5+ seconds. You will need good internet to be able to play the game without lag spikes, so you don't have to blame lag for everything. Controller-wise, I find the game doesn't work too well, so if you are looking to use this with Steam Link, be warned (especially since the steam link controllers tend to be interesting to use).

Gameplay:
Gameplay is very fun on its own. The basics of gameplay are as follows: There are two teams, RED and BLU. They compete in a fire fight to win some objective, whether it be returning a flaming briefcase to your base or pushing a cart with a bomb on it into the enemy base. There are many unique modes to play, including Capture the Flag, Attack/Defense, Payload, Special Delivery, and more. There are over 200 weapons to use, so you will be able to pick favorites and eventually hone your skills to be a great player.

Updates:
In the earlier days of TF2, updates were very fun and unique, such as the introduction of humans versus robots with Mann vs. Machine, and the Hatless Update, which added coaching, training, voting, duels, bot improvements, and much more. But recently, updates have been getting a bit unoriginal. And by a bit, I mean a lot. With the introduction of the Gun Mettle update, the game was starting to look more like Counter Strike: Global Offensive than TF2. This CS:GO update added skins, cases, stattrak, and more things that completely copied CS:GO (it's totally okay, Valve owns both games). The only good part of this update gameplay-wise was contracts (and new maps), a concept that has stuck around with the Invasion update and Tough Break update. This shows that Valve is still listening to some things we say, and trying to encourage fun gameplay rather than trading hats, weapons, etc. for profit.

Trading, Gambling, Wasting Money...
This part of the review isn't influential upon my rating, this is just my warning to you. I've wasted a lot of money on this game, and the end result was a negative profit. Don't fall into the same hole as I did. Don't become jealous of other players who don expensive hats and equip fancy weapon skins and crap like that. You WILL end up wasting lots of money. You will start wasting your life on the market trying to make profits. You will waste your items and money on gambling for virtual hats and weapons. Seriously, don't let jealousy overcome you and cause you to waste a lot. But if you do end up doing this, you will be lucky if you end up making a profit. Despite the description of the game, TF2 is NOT about who has the best hats. It's about having fun and enjoying the game for what it is.

Conclusion:
The game runs well on almost any setup, except for use with a controller. Gameplay is fun and (mostly) unique, with many modes and weapons. Updates have changed the way the game works, and have added fun ways to enjoy TF2. Updates have also ruined the game partially due to a lack of creativity from Valve. Jealousy should be avoided while playing this game, as it will lead you into wasting money on hats and weapons. Enjoy the game for what it is, not for what it isn't. Based on gameplay, I would give the game a 10/10, but on the terms of other additions for the game, I'd rate it 7/10.

In the case of optimization:
The game's minimum requiremets are:

Additional Notes: NOTE: The minimum requirements are sufficient to run the game but without planetary features, which require DirectX 11.
I have an Intel HD Graphics 4000, an i5 quad core, and 8gb of ram and the game runs extremely slow to the point where it is unplayable. Besides optimization, you should definately play the game.

P.S. I recently got a very good setup (Intel i7-6700 and overclocked GTX 970) and the game runs smoothly, but the game gives my computer thousands of bsods.

Edit to my edit: After a year I decided to buy the game again to see if they had fixed the bug that was making my computer crash. Now the game works awesome, and I can definitely still recommend it.
