Very similar to Escape from Tarkov in ethos (contains PVP and PVE and revolves around short 10 min instances where you share a large map with several other player groups and must escape or lose all your equipment) but the gameplay itself is D&D style combat with a Chivalry leaning for the movement and melee combat.

You'll load up one of the three available maps either alone or with up to two friends and explore the dungeons looking for loot to make yourself stronger, to sell or for various fetch/explore quests.

Extremely punishing to learn, every enemy can kill you relatively quickly even alone and so learning to bait and dodge enemy attacks is very important. There are however many different classes that vary dramatically from each other in strengths and weaknesses and playstyle.

A very faithful adaption of the classic Warcraft 3 mod "Legion TD".

For those new to the game:
Legion TD is a co-op competitive tower defense game. In the standard multiplayer modes you and 1-3 others all have a lane of incoming enemies that all join together and attack your "King" - if your King dies - you lose. On the other side will be an equal sized team of opponents doing the same as you.

The game is round based, every round a wave of enemy units with various strength and weaknesses will spawn and attack your towers (which respawn with full health every round). Any enemies that you fail to kill will go and try to attack your king but if you clear all the enemies in your lane then your forces will teleport in front of your king to protect him from any "leaked" enemies from your allies lanes. The enemies in each round are the same but your opponents (and you) also have the options to send various extra enemy units with the wave to try and break through the defenses.

The main complexity of the gameplay is balancing the two resources in the game - Gold and Mythium. You spend your gold on building all of your Towers but you can also spend gold on Workers - these are non combat units that mine Mythium and increase your rate of Mythium acquisition. Mythium is used only for sending extra enemy units with the wave to attack your opponents defenses but this also provides consistant Gold income every round depending on the enemy you choose to send (generally the more Mythium it costs - the more Gold income it provides). What this means is that you always want to maximise worker production while building just enough towers to not allow any enemies through - the more efficiently you do this the more exponential your income growth can become. There is too much strategy to really get into too much depth here but this game has some serious replayability compared to other TD games due to this design.

For those who have played the Mod enough to know what to expect:
Everything you expect should be here - most of the units from the original game are here with several interesting changes and additions that allow for new strategies. Mastermind or randomised towers is the most common way to play as you get an additional bonus you can pick from 20 or so options including things like "+3 income and +3 rerolls", "+5 income and 1 reroll", "44 income after wave 10" and all sorts of interesting things.

The game seems pretty active and only takes a couple of minutes at most to find a game, all in all I have nothing to criticize.

If you have seen the gameplay and like the idea of a game that goes between short intense sequences and long slow traversal sections then I can't recommend this enough. A little too heavy on the exposition (especially towards the end) as is classic for Kojima but still a very enjoyable 30-40 hour experience.

Adorable fun as a casual experience with enough depth and character to be memorable. I'll always redownload this every time they add a new level - what a great dev team! The controls are very simple but using them takes some time to master and gives this game a lot of depth as a speedrunning game. The level variety is decent and there is enough of them that it will take a good few hours at least to complete that first run.

TLDR WTF IS THIS: An "autobattler" game based on a dota 2 mod called "Auto Chess" where you build up an army of units from random draws with shared alliances and races and battle against 7 other people doing the same thing.

We're finally at the point where Underlords is surpassing the old '"Autochess" dota mod in every way, and their recent huuuuge update should get rid of a lot of the problems people have had with this game.

The jail mechanic randomly locks 8 or so heroes away every day - this means the meta should never be so static that you can pick the same strong compositions every game.

The Underlord mechanic adds a tonne of nuance in how you position it and what talents you get. Every player starts the battle with a preselected Underlord unit that fights alongside your army - There is only two to choose from so far but each has a decent variety of playstyles it supports and compliments from what I see.

The recent duo game mode addition (if you can find a friend) is an absolute tonne of fun too and will probably become my main way of playing the game. You share HP and can pass units and gold between you, this adds a huge amount of depth to the way you play and has a nice side benefit of really lowering the chances that bad RNG stops your build from ever finding those specific units you need.

I played the mod for over 100 hours and have played TFT as well and Underlords is by far the closest to a feature complete game worthy of your time investment. We've had a lull of updates recently, no doubt while the team prepared this recent massive overhaul but prior to this the updates were thick and fast. In a game like this where it can start to feel stale without changes this is super important to the longevity of the game and will let this game stand out amongst the competition.

The characters and story in this game can feel a bit token sometimes, some very surface exploration of anarchic ideas and hacker themes but nothing paticularly deep or clever. With that said, it is a great sandbox crammed with fun things to do and the "seemless" multiplayer events (such as having to bring down another player with 5 star police rating or hack another player's phone without being discovered) are actually really fun and timed to almost never interrupt anything you might be doing.

I bought it as a co-op game and was somewhat disappointed as the co-op missions are procedural with no end or progression and a lot of activities are locked to single player. I got about 10 hours of co-op fun out of it but the single player is definitely where this game shines.

I had some framerate and freezing issues that I wouldn't expect to see on my PC for a game over a year old - but nothing too drastic, there are a few settings that will destroy your FPS on anything less then a £2000 PC but you can disable them with minimal visual impact.

Battle Royale hybrid of a WW2 shooter with... Cullinary equipment? I've been playing this little April Fool's joke turned "full" game since it was released and I'm still having a great time, I've even bought some cosmetics. The terrain detail is fantastic, the weapon variety and gunplay is very good.

The "end game" of the rounds is a bit too reliant on having both bunny boots (super jump) and knee pads of speed (faster sprint) for insane mobility - and this is why a lot of people complain about the oneshot melee weapons. It's certainly possible to play around it - if you know what you're doing - don't let the whining put you off giving this game a try.

Remember, the developers of this game made this as a fun gift to the community of the game Enlisted that they are building. It won't ever be a focus to develop it much - but it is certainly still fun.

The beautiful aesthetics of this game kept me playing for a long time despite my lack of 'skillz' making some sections incredibly frustrating!

It has a cute 2d artstyle but the gameplay is filled with challenging fights and precision platforming so don't be decieved if you're expecting the game to hold your hand. It gets a lot of comparison to Metroid and Dark Souls for some of it's mechanics but I've played neither of those game and enjoyed what this game had to offer.

While I still haven't finished this game I will eventually - and I would recommend. It's really not my kind of game but the creativity of the characters and world design are so incredible, I would say it's worth playing even if the gameplay is not really your jam.
