Excellent, but flawed, but in very different ways than other From Software games.

First of all, in regards to difficulty, I don't think it is more or less difficult than the Soulsborne series. It's just that the skills we have honed in those games do not transfer over very well. This is a very different sort of game. It's as much Ninja Gaiden (and Tenchu) as it is Souls. This is not an RPG, it's an action game that has minimal character progression. The early game feels brutally difficult, but as soon as you get the mentality of the game - what the combat demands of you, it gets much easier. I wouldn't say that the game becomes easy, it's still quite difficult, but what seems impossible at first turns quickly into a combat puzzle. Although the fact that the game requires your reflexes to be sharp at all times never fade, you will need to be on alert.

Stealth is very bad. It feels good when it works, but when it doesn't, it feels terrible. It's as if the devs wanted you to start encounters stealthily, but then fight 10 dudes when you got caught. What you (should) do instead is, you grapple away and lose most of the enemies, then pick them out one by one again. The main problem is that the levels are not designed for you to chain-stealth-kill enemies in a manner that would allow you to not get caught. Which leads me to my second gripe: Level Design.

I have played every one of these games - made by From Software or not - this is the most frustrated I got by the way they have designed the exploration phases of levels. I know they wanted them to be vertical (because Ninja, duh) but it just forces you to triple-check, quadruple-check everything and turns the progression into a bit of a slog. The biomes, and levels are also not as interesting and varied as I would have liked. One of the reasons that you feel like you have no idea where you are at times is that there is a distinct absence of landmarks in the level, and the environment looks very similar, so it takes you longer to get a sense of where you are - which is worrying me for Elden Ring, honestly.

Third gripe. Grappling is cool, and is a great idea and a great way forward for the series. But I feel like they have taken a half-step. They weren't able to design grapple points perfectly, so you constantly jump to your "death" and the grapple point does not trigger properly. And the fact that dropping into the abyss does not cause a death is very weird to me. Sure that would make the already brutally punishing game, even more frustrating, but this capitulation feels more like an acceptance of bad level design more than anything. Never in a million years would I have expected a Souls game to not punish you for falling to your "death".

All that aside - the combat is incredible. It's the best one-on-one combat engine these guys ever made. When you get into the groove of fighting another ninja, it just looks and feels awesome. The clings and clangs may give you a headache after a while, but at least the music is still quite good. Absolutely recommended. People who say that the game is very difficult are correct, it is - but it just requires you to learn how to play it, and then it's as rewarding as any video game I've ever played.

Oh also, the ending stuff is out of control this time. I know they like these things to be esoteric, but come on.

I don't know how many different ways there are to say that this is one of the best video games ever made. There probably are many, but let me say it like this.

I shouldn't like this game, it is one of the things I hate about fiction - a collage. But I'll be damned if it isn't the best collage there is. It plays like a dream. The level design is on the level of Dark Souls, with a fantastically similar - yet uniformly profound story to match, and a memorable soundtrack to follow. The upgrade system is perfectly balanced, resulting in an incredibly fair difficulty curve. The art-style is wonderfully inspired with every scene, and every character design feeling absolutely coherent and every room feeling lived-in.

There are many things I can point out that could be better, but they have all been pointed out by bigger fans of the game than me. Besides, any game can be better and I will critique my most favorite games most heavily - I can write a 100-page thesis on how Dark Souls should be better. What is incredible about Hollow Knight is that its shortcomings are overshadowed by its brilliance in every step, and at times it absolutely feels like the perfect game.

If you somehow skipped this gem like I had, you are missing out.

I thought there was no way they could make a worse game than Need for Speed Payback. They took that as a challenge.

A great game that reminded me of Firewatch, until it wasn't. I disagree with a lot of what happens and with what is said in the latter half of it, and honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone - unless you are looking at it in an academic sense.

Although there is much to dislike in the story, if you are particularly bothered by the title, avoid this at all costs.

You can call this a JRPG. You can call this Anime. You can call this a dungeon crawler, a visual novel, or even a Mystery if you'd like. These are all true.

But beyond all of that, it's a friendship simulator, one that has never been done this well until its release or ever since. There really is nothing like it.

Portal, but magnets instead of portals and Lovecraft instead of Half-Life. I don't need to say anything else, because that's the amount of thinking that the devs did.

Good effort, good game, beat it a million years ago on 360, can't recommend it.

SWTOR is one of the worst possible sequels to KOTOR 2 imaginable, yet still enjoyable enough as an MMO that I would recommend it.

Know that, if you still enjoy Star Wars;
1- What is wrong with you?
2- This is better than the movies, slightly worse than Rebels, worse than KOTOR, way worse than KOTOR 2
3- It’s also better than nothing, which is what you have at the moment

Sorry for the truth, and I hope you have a good day.
