Some may argue that I am blinded by nostalgia, but the fact that I've been playing these games on and off for 20 years and continue to enjoy myself says otherwise. Battle Network is an amazing series, though the first game is quite a rough concept, the sequels more than make up for that in numerous gameplay enhancements like escape from battle without wasting a chip, styles, navi customization, and most prominently a battle chip system that gets more refined and intricate with sequels, allowing for insanely broken combos if you wish. Great replayability with numerous fun bosses to fight stronger versions of later on, and some of the best post games even going by modern standards in 2 and especially 3. Side quests and collectibles are also very generous, some giving incredibly useful items like the ability to rotate navi customizer parts. They were not afraid to pack the GBA cartridge to the brink.

Don't get me wrong, these are kids games plot wise, but give it a chance and you'll face a brutally difficult at times rpg battle system that has aged like a fine wine. These games competed with Pokemon on the GBA, and in my honest opinion these are a boatload more fun, timeless classics worth every penny
