Kills me to do a thumbs down as when the game works it seems fun. But Unfortunately I am in the group where the game crashes on menu open, randomly when playing. After wasting two Saturday's playing the campaign waiting for crashes to start new bug fixes i gave up. I won't even begin on the bait and switch Battlepass they threw out

If I was an IT wizard maybe I would have an answer, but I have done every troubleshoot fix short of a BIOS update as I have an MSI build and the the bios is a bit odd and I dont want to brick anything.

4070ti
32 Ram
I9-13900KF 13th gen

This is the only game I havent been able to troubleshoot a fix for. Which frankly game of this size on release should not have 10-15% of the player base trying to slap together solutions to get it running.

Early Access Review
I love this type of genre and really did try to like this game but there are a few things that I would consider before buying. I personally wouldn't buy it. The game currently is worth $5 at best. Now I am a city builder, survival enthusiast but even if you arent and just thought the concept of being a god and watching your civilization grow up is cool, I wouldn't recommend it. The reason is because it is completely butchered. And personally the way the game is set up I don't see them fixing it with patches. You would have to do an entire overhaul to fix the game from the ground up. The game as is feels like soemthing I would play on my phone.

1. The game pace is slow. As in extremely slow. Ive played some slow pace builders before i.e Banished, Factorio(early game) etc. This game allows you to do 2x speed and that speed feels like what it should normally run at. But more than that everything in the game runs slow from research to pop speed.

2. Almost no ability to micro manage or individually do actions. Slow games normally make up for it by having diverse systems where you work on supply chains and so on. This game everything is automatic and you kind of hope that the game runs it properly. You can assign pops to certain buildings but thats it. I would say 60% of my time in this game has been spent watching netflix on my phone as I wait for things to get done in game.

3. Aggressive hostile villages can be almost game breaking. I am writing this review after forcing myself to do another 7 hours on it the past few days. Im sure if I were to min max rushing them maybe it could be saved. but its frustrating because the game is slow (see 1.) and there isnt a way to speed your research consistently. You don't have "research stations/hubs/jobs" the game just has a set pace. and the AI is faster than you. The first time I watched my muskets get wrecked by tanks it was funny. By game 4-5 and realizing its actually impossible to stop it wasn't humorous anymore. You can try to a peace route but once again the game is so underdevloped there arent really options. At some point the AI will start attacking you even if you give them gifts nonstop.

4. The god powers that are advertised, suck. Once again the point system used for it is unbelievably slow (see 1.) and you wont even be able to use your powers for anything. "Why can;t you use God Powers to kill hostile villages" because they are literally protected in a dome. If you save enough points in theory you can knock down the dome but keep in mind it will take will over 60-90 minutes to save those points on fastest god speed. or longer if you have few believers!

5. Research tree makes no sense. I would guess that most people that are drawn to these games appreciate a sense of realism. You will not find it here. You are forced to unlock electricity in the medieval age, but cant build other parts until the modern age. Its not game breaking but it is something you'll be scratching your head over. Also its frustrating as there isn't a way to speed up research or pick certain branches. The tree is set up as a bottle neck. You have to do certain technologies to get access to the rest instead of maxing out certain trees.

6. No quests or literally any form of challenges or things to do. Which is fine to do but only if you have a solid city builder. Which this game is not.

7. Very minor, but if you work in a STEM field of any sort there will be some frustrating moments. the devs clearly have a few ideological things they want to push. And they ignore what i consider common sense but at the very least they did zero research into. Example would be a polluted lake, Ignoring their logic on how it gets polluted,

do you get a special building to clear it?
Maybe a project or quest to do research and clean up?
Do you have policies that you can enact and watch the fruits of over the next 100m years?

the answer is no to all above. Those options dont exist. Your solution is to use a god power and make it rain. That somehow solves the problem. It solves two problems, the pollution and giving a use for the normally useless god powers they try to make relevant.

Overall its a cool concept game that the devs butchered in practice. Most of your game time will be spent placing a couple of buildings. Watching tv while you wait on fastest speed, remembering to add new research when it finally finishes. The god powers are a cool concept but essentially feel tossed in with no actual use, Fighting feels forced because its automatic, you cant control units and will watch you're 2v1 advantage in a fight go out the window because your army will go attack one at a time for some reason. The city building in general feels mediocre at best.

Save youre money and go play something else that has at a minimum a good foundation. I realize this game is technically early access or beta (As it has been for years) but the issue is that it doesn't have a good foundation to build on. They need to strip down and redo the whole game not add a few patches. In my opinion.

In Short: I am assuming you played the first game. If not then go play that its better, this feels more like a DLC but for $30 its priced about right ish.

Favorite: Adding a jukebox and the soundtrack they picked is amazing. Added a couple songs to spotify. There is nothing quite like parking at home and listening to "subnautic stimulus" on loop in an empty base staring out the window at a unforgiving ocean.

My absolute love for the first Subnautica absolutely influenced my review for this.

The things they did well, Base building felt cooler. Graphics ticked up a notch....and yeah thats about it. They also did do a good job of fleshing out details from the previous game and giving a lot of answers where there were none before. So I appreciated that.

I think the devs really missed why people loved the first game. I came late to the party and both games were already out and no one even mentioned the second one. And I know these points have already been brought up but its worth reiterating.

1. The map is a tall build. It seems like a smaller map with much deeper sections but in small caves and twisting turns. I do not consider myself a noob but wow I had to look up videos on how to get to certain places because it is not intuitive nor do you have a way to solve it in game. It also kind of takes away the vast ocean feel. It didn't feel like the first game map where you could pick a direction and explore.

2. Due to the map choices it limited that feeling of running into a Leviathan. I don't think I ever had a point where I thought "I might not survive this". That takes away a huge chunk of the experience.

3. they made the fallout 4 mistake. You can't suddenly give your character a voice and then a deeply personal reason to care about the story. the first game I was myself trying to survive in order to go home. I even put personal pics in the game file to put photos up in my base and give a personal touch. Personally I didn't like that, some people may not care but I don't think it added anything and every time she spoke it reset my own story line for why my character was there. Its no longer your character and you're playing as someone else. personal thing for me to is that If im playing a game then I like to play as my own gender and hear that voice. That made it harder for me to care about the story line because I could never get into the character. First game I was myself and RPGed my reasons. I was expecting that for this one. Very small detail that probably only bugged me.

4. Vehicles, once again due to the map size the vehicles were so so. I wanted a Cyclops submarine that I could move my mobile base around and explore this massive map. Instead I got a seatruck. Which I promptly named Tonka and proceeded to smash it around the tiny maze cave systems they forced me to get lost in.

5. I like the idea of some land but not in the way they integrated it. Wandering around the cold sucked and then the vehicle to use for land you can't even build until you don't really need it anymore.

Overall I think Devs missed the mark on why everyone loved the first one so much. I'm hoping for the third one and equally am hopeful they go back to what made it such a good game.

I did like it overall and it helped stretch my subnautica experience so I appreciated that. That said, When I play Subnautica, I play the first one and the only thing I miss is the jukebox they added in this.

In short: this is one of the few games that I wish i could experience for the first time again. Its perfect.

Favorite thing: Putting personal photos in game files and putting those in picture frames in the base to give more of a "I have a reason to survive" feeling.

My only regret is not getting this game when it first came out.

I absolutely love Survival games. And this one nails that perfect line of feeling like you're surviving but still having a beautiful story and feeling relaxed enough to explore. Side note, this game did not help my fear of the ocean.

Graphics are great, story is amazing but the game does a good job of letting the story happen naturally. You aren't pushed to do it but more of slowly want to do more as you explore.

Having the ability to leave pods for other players is such a cool way to connect with a community in a single player game. Found my first one and immediately was thinking of what to leave for someone else.

Bring us Titanfall 3!

Don't know how many hours I played on xbox but decided to get this on the steam library. Took 14 hours to get the 50 achievements from remembering the same ones on xbox.

Love this game. Probably a by gone era of shooters unfortunately.

In short: For $20 I think its the right price for a relaxed experience.

I figured after getting every achievement i would write a review. i play a lot of survival, city builder, etc. Banished is in its own little side category. Its a very relaxing builder with a few basic things to sort out. There isn't a tech tree, there isn't a story line, no enemies but I have always viewed it as starting a frontier town in wild west.

Its relaxing to play as there isn't any insane factors to contend with. You try new generated maps and try to get enough food and warmth for Winter. That said its also not a game that you can let run and walk away from for 10-20 minutes. The mistakes you make wont be realized until well into the future. Which is fun if you like that planning aspect and a snowball build up of failure.

If you want a hard challenge then look elsewhere. If you want something that's fun/relaxed and enjoy planning a ideal frontier town, then this is the game

It’s just not worth the price.

- no co-op
- no forge
- the map feels like they ran out of time while making it(which 343 has admitted)

I had such high hopes but this is my last Halo game. 343 has just broken way to many promises.

I won’t get into the nitty gritty or rant but I would not buy this unless it’s below 30$. Even then I personally wouldn’t. I feel ripped off as they promised to fix the issues but haven’t. They patched Easter eggs out of it. 343 seems dead set on not patching issues but patching whatever fans seem to like and post about.

It was a cool concept but the open world just seems empty and a lot of running around for nothing. The levels play like the worst forerunner hallways with none of the halo 3 vibe.

343 has lost yet another fan.

(Oh you loved customizing your character? Like in Reach? Well kiss that goodbye.)

I took awhile before giving this a solid thumbs down because I really hoped they would fix it.

- multiplayer has enough glitches to feel like a Indie Game not a Triple A
- the armor core system is broken.
- there is almost no customization when compared to past Halo Games.

I’ll try not to rant but as a long time halo player it’s sad to officially drop the game. I preordered the campaign based on 343 promises. Still no co-op, still no forge, still the worst armor, no reach armor, pay to customize.

I can’t recommend this to anyone. 7 months later and I would say the glitches and desyncing have gotten worse. Which is astounding. There is a reason the player count has dropped and continued dropping. It looks like a triple A game. The gameplay feels like Halo. The connection issues feel like a start up. The armor and customization feel like a pay to play mobile game. And level progression feels like a dollar store version of Apex.

If you want a fun multiplayer that feels like Halo. Go back to an older Halo game or grab SpliteGate.

343 has been the abusive ex I keep going back to and I’m finally done with it.

Hated it. 10/10

I won't give anything away but it 100% one of those games that you'll want friends to play just to talk about it. Price is about perfect. If it was 2$ more I would say its to expensive for how long ti takes to play it.

Will always love AOE3. Its the standard for RTS games. A blend of strategy and speed. Been playing for 15 years and will probably go 15 more at least.
