It's Smite, only upgraded and somewhat changed, but still mostly the same. I wish there was a way to leave a neutral review.

If you didn't like the game when it was still Smite 1, you probably won't like it now.

If you're one of the Smite 1 veterans, you'll probably hate the game for taking all of your skins while not changing the art-direction whatsoever, and that's a perfectly valid reason.

It was a necessary engine upgrade, but I don't think HiRez handled the situation properly. Then again, that's HiRez for you lol

A reluctant positive review, because despite all the ♥♥♥♥ ups, it's evident that they're trying to make the game better. Hopefully they keep doing it for as long as they can.

Imagine a WW2 shooter that is full of chaos, is insanely immersive, incredibly fun, but doesn't cost you an arm and a leg, doesn't make you grind like crazy, and doesn't disrespect you or your time.

Actually, you don't have to imagine, it's THIS DARN GAME RIGHT HERE!

Singleplayer against AI, modding, coop, even incredibly fun bloody PVP! It has it all! Sure it can be a little bit janky around the edges, graphics aren't fantastic, but I almost forgot how nice it feels to have a game that I can simply start up and enjoy. ER2 made me remember.

Just buy it and have fun!

I've been searching for a single-player/coop action RPG that has social/MMOish features for ages, and this is it!

Multiple different progression systems, fantastic loot, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of skins and ALL OF THIS FOR ONE SINGLE PURCHASE! No ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in-game shops, boosts, bonuses. I can respec for free, I don't have to pay for storage, I don't have to do any of that ♥♥♥♥ and can simply enjoy the game. In 2024! WHO KNEW YOU COULD DO THAT?!

Combat is very snappy with seemingly decent amount of depth. It's not that complex, but it just feels right.

You've got housing (which actually has gameplay effects, because you can place artifacts to boost your stats in there!), mounts, transmog, paints, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of everything available to you just by playing.

In an industry where the majority of publishers only think about gains and profits, bloating projects with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ monetization systems or chasing trends, and never shy away from closing these projects, it feels like a breath of fresh to actually have devs turn the situation around.

Buy it, try it, support the dev doing a good thing.

I found MW5 to be much better than I expected after reading a lot of negative reviews.

This was my gateway into the Battletech universe (for better or worse) and I am so happy I gave this game a try.

It's a pretty immersive sandbox-y mercenary sim that allows you to pilot a huge variety of really cool mechs. With severe lack of mecha games on PC, I think it's easily one of the best ones.

You get to travel around the galaxy picking up your own procedural/scripted missions, building relationships with different factions, which in turn provides you with economic benefits when you trade on territories of said factions.

Maps you get to play on are also procedurally generated, so there's plenty of fun to be had across plenty of different biomes. Still, I'd say that scripted campaigns are probably the best content in the game, with both interesting storylines and great rewards.

While not the most visually impressive and not extremely well-optimized, the game still looks and plays really great. The scale of destruction you can unleash on both the environments and other mechs really makes you feel like you pilot a big badass ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I didn't play MWO so I never found base game customization to be particularly lacking. It's nowhere near something like Armored Core IV, but it's still pretty neat and allows you to have plenty of different builds for most mechs. It's enjoyable and not super complex, I honestly couldn't ask for more.

Alas, not everything is perfect. The enemy/lancemate AI is pretty barebones. You won't see other mechs use environments/maps to their advantage or try to do any tricky stuff to get behind you. AI in general usually just charges at you most of the time. The high difficulty missions will sometimes drop massive assault mechs right on top of your head. The difficulty can jump a bit because of that, but it's nothing unmanageable, and still generally very enjoyable. Even with limited team commands you can still play around with your squad and use positioning to your advantage. It feels pretty satisfying to do when you get used to it.

For all of my platyime I've enjoyed the game without any gameplay-altering mods (I've added some cool stuff for visuals that I really liked, but it's still not even close mandatory), and it took me a while to really get bored in any way. Fighting progressively bigger and meaner mechs, reading about all the events that are happening in the universe and dealing with different factions, scavenging new parts/mechs and then travelling across the galaxy to get some rarer/Hero variants - all of this felt really enjoyable for a pretty long time, so I'd say I easily got my money's worth.

I plan to come back to this game someday and play a lot more of it, maybe even with some bigger mods, but at this point I can only say that these 100+ hours that I've spent on it were definitely enjoyable as heck.

Wanted to try out a funny dwarf game I've seen on Youtube.

Ended up in some weird mineral worshiping cult and now I can't look at elves without puking.

Amazing game carried by fantastic visuals and artstyle, with really great gameplay, yet pulled down to the bottom by mechanics and grinds that make it genuinely unenjoyable, no matter how much time passes.

If you have way too much free time on your hands, and want to build/loot/shoot to the point where the characters you play start feeling as demigods - you might enjoy this.

As I grew older, I stopped being able to enjoy it over the years, as playing it casually feels like a boring slog, and I think my time and money could be better spent on other games and hobbies.

Try it yourself and see if it's worth it, but be ready to sink a TON of time (and optionally money) to get anywhere at all.
