I'm having a blast playing this game and cannot recommend it enough. I really enjoy the game so far and I'm about 13 hours in and on the third day since it was released. In some ways the game is more casual while still offering a bit of a challenge. I like having quests and having to collect resources to craft or build better items in games in general.
In Mr. Prepper, there are times the game feels a little too grindy, but they still make it feel rewarding and a little forgiving. You don't die (as far as I can tell) when your stats get too low, you "faint" like in Stardew Valley. And most items you can craft, you can also breakdown again with no loss of material, like Valheim (exceptions are food items). I wish they implemented item repair, but for now you can break down items that wear down before they are used up, get back all of the material, then recraft them.
I also haven't encountered any of the bugs others have mentioned so your mileage may vary. The devs seem pretty responsive, especially on Discord. If you're not sure about buying it, try the Prologue out, but I have already got more than $20 entertainment value out of the game so far!
