The bullet-hell (heaven) vampire-survivor-like genre continues to evolve and this is a worthy entry. The art is great, the classes are interesting and style is on point. The gear/drops system gives you a definite power up run to run as you work your way through the level.

Makes me feel like I'm flying the Canterbury in the Expanse. Having fun just mining and upgrading my ship. Barely scratched the surface, great value at the price point.

Previous review was negative. Now, I've gotta give credit where due. Definitely worth.

If you enjoyed The Stantly Parable and like games that make you think rather than challenge your motor skills, give it a try. Provided you get it on sale.

First, I played this game back in the day and as such my Steam play-time does not reflect true play time.

If you are looking for an old-school Star Wars FPS experience, the Dark Forces series is surely worth checking out. This is the sequel to the original Dark Forces(also worth checking out), a more Doom-esque FPS. In Dark Forces 2, we see 3D accelerated graphics and the introduction of cut-scenes.

Performance-
The steam port is somewhat unstable and there are some quirks that will have to be ironed out to get it running smoothly and in the correct resolution. I had to reverse my Y axis input on my mouse, as well as reduce all mouse sensitivities. You will also have to enable 3d acceleration and find a resolution that works for you.

If the game crashes continually when starting a level, visit http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2.html and download dgVoodoo. Extract D3Dimm.dll and DDraw.dll to your jedi knight game folder. This fixed the problem for me and hopefully for you as well.

Graphics-
Naturally the visuals don't hold up that well, as this game was one of the earlier FPSs to feature 3d-accelerated graphics. The textures were well-done and the game doesn't look horrible and is quite playable. If you attempt to play the game at 1920x1080 you will find UI elements such as health and ammo gauges become too small to read. When you pause the game and enter the menu, the game will go through an awkward transition where it becomes windowed and small. Annoying, but manageable.

Gameplay-
The default controls are archaic, as this game predates the modern WASD layout that has become standard. All keys are rebindable, so this too can be dealt with. The level design isn't quite as impressive as I remember it being, but the maps are expansive and have plenty of secrets to find and clever enemy placement. There are a variety of weapons to employ including a lightsaber and rocket launcher. The gameplay is fast-paced and fluid. I found it enjoyable.

Story-
The storyline is somewhat campy, but it follows the same protagonist as Dark Forces 1 as well as later jedi knight games. If you enjoy Star Wars you will enjoy the story, though the cinematics can seem a bit goofy.

Opinion-
If you are at all interested in classic FPS or classic gaming in general, and have a soft spot for Star Wars, this game is well worth checking out. It represents an important step in 3d graphics development, and is fun in it's own right. For the complete Kyle Katarn saga, be sure to check out the original Dark Forces as well as Jedi Knight 2.
