One of the best idle games of all time!

Since 2013, now finally on Steam. Always had regular updates (crucial to idle games).
Don't be fooled by the simple look, it has more depth that you can imagine.

Highly recommended!

TLDR: - Awesome experience, everyone should have played it. - Finish it because, more than gameplay, story and atmosphere are essential. - Find all secrets! - DLC is amazing!

This is one of the very best games i've ever seen (i've seen and played a lot), maybe even the best. It's kind of a Portal-like puzzle game, but that really is a rough description.
    4 points I'd focus on:
  1. Rich and brilliant scenario and story
  2. Unique audio atmosphere + wonderful environments and landscapes
  3. Smart puzzles, challenging without being frustrating
  4. Loads of great secrets and easter eggs
1) Story and script:
The greatest things about this game (at least for me).
Along with audio material there are mostly pieces of text scattered across the game. My advice would be to read them all, but if it begin to bore you (cause there's a lot) skip some historical or scientific infos to focus on story related stuff.
There's a clever message and a deep philosophical meaning to this game, though it's open to interpretation and you need to experience it by yourself. Finish the game and meditate ;)

2) Atmosphere:
Really great and unique, so great that after finishing it 100% i sometimes play it again a bit just for it's lovely OST and it's dialogs, thoses bring back good memories.
Voice acting is nice and, even though graphism are not the best out there, artistry of landscapes and nature are admirable.

3) Puzzles:
Very well thought and while the progressive apparition of new gameplay elements opens endless possibilities for level designs, these latter are widely exploited. Difficulty is linearly increasing and some puzzles are a bit tricky especially those for secret stars but if you are looking for more challenging ones you'll love the DLC in wich there are a bunch of amazingly clever new puzzles!

4) Secrets and easter eggs:
Thoses are a thing in The Talos Principle. There is a lot of them and they are (for the most part) soo damn cool! That really is a big deal in this game and when you'll feel that you had enough looking for them don't hesitate to use a guide to help you find them all, because you really want to see them all ingame, how you found them isn't so important.

Finally some "+" over Portal which is (was?) for me the best game ever:
  • Puzzles are more complex and challenging (especially those from the DLC)
  • Graphically prettier and better background music (i didn't say "credits music", you fool!)
  • So much longer than Portal 2 (even without caring about achievs)
  • Secrets, secrets, secrets... more secrets! (even though Portal have great ones) (there's even Portal-related secrets!)
  • Better boss fight (just trolling, this can't be)

Ps: Little hint with no spoil: if you want 100% achievs in one run be really careful about red sigils! (you'll understand)
Pps: No doubt it's worth full price imho. Same for the DLC Road To Gehenna wich is kind of a whole new great game!

This community-made mod is so well made that it's worth the base game!

Takes longer to finish than Portal 2, story is great, world is beautiful, levels are awesome and harder than Portal 2 ones.

Portal fans will surely love this mod, it's kind of Portal 3 imo!

Core friend is annoying. Not as much as Weasley though x)

Ok, so that was something.
I feel I could never speak with somebody about it but I think I can write as least, and I should help people not to miss it.
I won't refer to it as "a game" but as "a work" since I really don't know how to qualify it.
I experienced it as a movie rather than as a game, but it's much more than a movie too.
I also have to point out that you have to play all 5 chapters, that I can't stress enough.
I get why they splitted it, but that shouldn't make you think you can just stop anywhere and understand (you have to get to the end to grasp it entirely, just like any story actually).
And the price is far from being a problem since it's so damn worth it.
Besides, the more it goes the more intense are the episodes.

Now comes the actual review :
I don't think there is any feeling you can't find and understand through that work.
While playing it I saw beauty, I saw hapiness and sadness, I saw relief and I saw pain, I saw pride and humility, I went through kindness and madness, hope and hate, true and fake friendship, generosity and envy (and this could go on much longer)... But above everything else I saw a deep and true love, shown like I never saw it before from any creation. A pretty uncommon love but in the way I truly believe in. That's something I'm always hopeless to explain, but this work just shows it so well.

Still the presence of all these feeling doesn't sounds artificial in any way, there is only a great coherence and characters acting in a perfectly realistic way.
(with an exception for 2 or 3 short passages, like the behavior of Max and Chloe after the train: just as if nothing happened and walking on the rails again, seriously?)
We're used to strange and disturbing acting in video games, but here we are seing so much better that in many movies, so much trueness. Script, voice acting and facial expressions render amazing. No overexagerated evil, no simple-minded heroes nor useless secondary characters, a deep and meaningfull scenario... All the opposite of a lot of blockbusters.

And now, as if it needed any more good points:
- OST is amazing,
- Environments, lighting and landscapes are great,
- Replayability is huge since a deep playthrough is about 20h when there is so many of them (and that is without even mentionning the 60 not-so-easy-to-get achievements).

Anyway, I think I could have shorten this review into one of thoses:
- If everybody had played and understood that game the human world would be a so much better place.
- This piece of art is a splendid concentrate of feelings and life.

TL;DR : The game is fine, but I cannot recommend it since in the end you would just wish you didn't played it.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good very realistic game. But it's also the most depressing thing ever, knowing it to be realistic being the main reason. I hope nothing bad happened to players already into depression before playing.
After finishing it you'll feel bad for some hours to some days. If you really wanna play it I would advise you to be convinced you have an awesome life first.

Ps : beyond just unlocking his icon, maybe it would be nice to be able to live the Brad-side of the story by choosing "BradDarko23" and "Brad" at the beginning ?
