Decent short story, the soundtrack has Dum Dum Girls, and the trans theme isn't violently stuffed into the game. While it's hardly the greatest "choose your own adventure" game, DONTNOD obviously know how to make them.

Also: I don't usually go through ingame books unless I have to. But Tell Me Why's Book of Goblins was a surprisingly fun read. Not to mention it has its own creative uses in puzzles and includes great art.

Thumbing this up for everyonewho likes a good story. Tell Me Why is a nice way to spend a weekend.

Overhyped, repetitive, bland game, where you've seen it all after three rounds - especially with the tiny map variety, limited space for tactics and the fact it's basically a glorified flash game.
Among Us lacks depth, motivation and its minigames are just a tedious filler.

If you're under influence with friends, you'll probably have fun for a few hours. Almost everything seems better with alcohol and other "enhancing substances". Then again, you might as well go out and start kicking each other in the nuts. That's bound to leave a more long-lasting sensation than Among Us.

If you like the concept and you actually want the fun to stem from the gameplay, go play Trouble in Terrorist Town.

As I singleplayer fan, I have been mostly using my steering wheel in F1 2020 and Assetto Corsa until now. But neither comes even close to the natural driving experience I get from rFactor 2. This simulator has great physics and most of the cars I tried handled just right. What I value even more, however, is the AI - arguably the best one on the racing sim market. It really is a big change compared to Assetto Corsa, where cars just follow each other in a long train with zero effort to overtake.

There's also a lot of content available and I haven't experienced any issues with the Steam Workshop yet.

And the negatives? People have been complaining about the UI for a long time. Well, there's a new one now. Don't really have an opinion yet on that. I can say this though: If you want to create your own championship or just play with hand-picked AI or mixed cars - you're in for a world of pain. As of December 2020, there is a custom championship system planned. Far into 2021, but it should come eventually. And keep in mind that there are already ways to play custom series. No matter how bothersome they can be. And that is another strength of rFactor. Whatever you're missing, you can probably mod it in somehow.

Ah. The game that relit my hope in crafty gameplay being possible in 2019 (the year I finally bought it).
The piece that got me out of my anhedonism for one complete playthrough... after which I immediately started another one.

It's one of the games that gives you a leeway, a choice. It reminds me of the days I was putting random LEGO pieces together. You just don't see creative problem-solving in games anymore. And that's a shame.

I never read the actual book, but this game was a beautiful emotional journey. Exactly what I am looking for nowadays.

No need to dive into details about the gameplay, as it's always very basic with interactive stories like Pillars. And yes, it's very easy to beat.

However, none of that matters. Can't say I was a fan of the art style at first, but it fits here and manages to show even the most subtle facial expressions. The music is very apt when setting the mood. There is absolutely nothing to bring the story down and that's all you need to know.

The map travel minigame is a nice innovation, that helps the game to stay fresh by changing the tempo.

Probably the only thing I disliked was the occasional weird pause before the next line of dialogue played. This sometimes leads to immersion-breaking moments, where actors just stop and stare for a few seconds - a phenomenon usually seen whenever I open my mouth in the real life.

Animals, pencil, sepia, 19th century France. Things you wouldn't normally put together create an unique and atmospheric mix here.

It's an incredibly charming game with interesting peop... I mean animals, that you quickly bond with.
Silly, yet serious and mysterious.
Short, yet very engaging.

Multiple endings are always nice. I've only got to one so far, but I imagine the plot doesn't change very much, The ending is most likely decided at one critical point. Obviously.

And don't even get me started on those classical pieces from the OST. They fit so well.

First impressions
I always feel guilty spending money. Even $1 purchases make me anxious.
Prey for 15€ made me feel regret.
At first.

15€? Why didn't you buy a book instead? Get a present for your mother? Come on, you owe her. You could have even asked a girl out for that, Horse! (Note: I couldn't.)

I don't know why I felt that way. Maybe I was in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mood. I had literally no abilities. While I found the atmosphere captivating, what I was looking for was substance. Why did all those people call this game a gem?

Breakthrough
But the more I played, the more I started noticing something very intriguing. Shades of Deus Ex. The first one with JC Denton. Not the hipster tryhard BS that came later. Anyway, Prey gives you breathing space. It lets you figure out things yourself. How we still celebrate that as new and refreshing in 2018 is beyond me.

I'm usually very demanding when it comes to the main plot. While Prey's story isn't groundbreaking, it doesn't matter at all. Gameplay is easily enjoyable enough to balance it out.

I haven't even tried mimic abilities. And when I want to experience several playthroughs, you know the game is worth it.

Guess the name of my real-life best friend / crush.
Yeah. Same spelling too. This got personal.

Of course I keep coming back every day.

Beholder is a bit like "Neighbours from Hell" set in a totalitarian state.

The game tells says it's up to you, how you're gonna play it. Well, true, but still it forces you into a fenced area, where you have to finish certain quests in order to progress in the main story. It's more of an illusion of choice.

You have the ability to spy on people, go through their belongings, profile & report them. It involves extensive & annoying mouseclicking. The problem is - unless you're going for the model citizen ending, reporting them is usually counter-productive. You need them! By removing people, you might unknowingly block yourself out from a possible quest solution.

What you don't need (excluding achievement hunters) is your family. I know you're supposed to care about them, but the game fails to deliver this need. All they do is that they drain your wallet to the bone. I honestly haven't noticed any benefits. As morbid as it is, eliminating my family quickly became my go-to strategy.

My review might seem negative, but I actually really enjoyed my time with Beholder. It's just that when you finally manage to see through the game's essence, it fills you with an empty feeling that this could have been something more.
