Review is based on current state of game.

Game Pros
• Realistic combat with actual danger. You take a bullet you're most likely dead. Oh and by the way, no killcams here.
• Teamwork-oriented. Working together with your squad leader and commander can be the key to winning the match.
• Both teams are balanced out surprisingly well, each has its own unique features that gives it an edge.
• The amount of work that went into the map design clearly shows and results in immersive smartly designed maps that allow you to flank and envelop to your hearts content.
• Plenty of official and unofficial servers. No fuss.
• Character customization, you unlock outfit variations as you level up.
• Active development team with a good rap sheet.
• Graphical fidelity is impressive and takes after a realistic style.
• Pricing, you're very much getting a full multiplayer game for 1/3 the price that other contenders ask.
• Soundtrack and sound-design.
• Napalm.

Controversial Features
• There is no weapon unlock model present, everything is available depending on the role you play. Very much personal preference.
• Optimisation. Personally it runs incredible for me but I have noticed people with an even better system than me are facing problems, we'll see how that pans out in the future.
• Friendly fire is very much present.

Game Cons
• Bugs and glitches, don't you just love falling through the map? They're a rare occurrence however and they will most likely be ironed out in the coming patches.
• The amount of maps currently available. As of release there are only 5 maps available. Personally that is a bit on the small side in my opinion but we'll see what options will be present in the future, until then I'll list this as a con.

Relateable Games
• Rising Storm
• Red Orchestra Series

Conclusion
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is just simply a blast to play. It keeps you at the tip of your chair, and provided with just enough rage to keep it fun. If you're in the mood for a gritty first-person realistic shooter with unforgiving elements then you've found your match.

Review is based on current state of game.

Game Pros
• Authentic hand-drawn artwork.
• Not a tasking game, literally your toaster can run it.
• You can create profiles coupled with their own save games.
• Voice acting.
• Clean menu.
• Unique story.
• Steampunk-esque style.
• Puzzles are challenging and innovative.
• Classical soundtrack.
• Georgeous cut scenes.

Controversial Features
• No option to turn off hints completely, only to get them less often.
• Game is only about 2-3 hours long.

Game Cons
• Game doesn't run in a HD resolution.
• Sometimes the hints aren't useful at all.
• No steam achievements.

Relateable Games
• Drawn Series

Conclusion
Put on your thinking cap! This game isn't easy, it seems uncomplicated at first, almost simplistic, but trust me, it requires you to search for cyphers, clues and symbols to solve problems every step of the way. This isn't going to be a walk in the park, but if you're in the mood for a challenge, this is most definitely your lucky day.

Introduction

Here’s the premise: a team of time-travelling lumberjacks have reached Gaia, the immortal tree mother and have to chop at her as fast as possible, lest she grow too tall and cover the sun itself. With meteorite axes fused in the heart of the sun, each swipe of Gaia removes another chunk from her life-force. They are more than lumberjacks, they’re the saviours of earth itself.

Now, all of that was made up but it sounds about right. There is no story to Timberman, just the swing of an axe and the hope of a high score.

Gameplay

In Timberman, you tap either left or right on your arrow keys to chop at a presumably infinite tree trunk. Chop at either side, but do your best to avoid incoming branches. One hit of these, and it’s game over. Each chop lowers the tree, as well as a branch. There’s a greedy timer as well that runs on the top of the screen, and is refilled with each chop of the tree.

To sum it up, if you’ve played Flappy Bird, Trip Runner or any one of the billions of infinite running games, you’ll love Timberman. It’s just newer, faster and has better controls. Also, the chop-chop-chopping rhythm of the axe is hypnotically soothing.

There's also multiplayer in the form of either local splitscreen or a random online player you get matched up with.

Graphics

Take heed. Timberman’s a retro game so at this point in the review, you either hate it instantly or love it dearly. The barrage of cutesy 8-bit games are fun, but have begun to wear thin. I’m no game developer, but isn’t it more satisfying to simply have clean, sharp graphics instead of a pixelated mess? I like the graphics, and the gameplay is undemanding enough to warrant Timberman’s pared-down aesthetic. I’ve just grown weary of these 8-bit style games.

Conclusion

Timberman carefully balances frustration with necessity thanks to an incredibly simple control-scheme of either left or right to chop. Chop well enough, and unlock a barrage of cutesy Timbermen which thankfully have no effect on the gameplay.

Verdict
Chop trees, compete for the highest score, rinse and repeat. Great game, is it worth your dollar? Maybe.

Introduction

Enter Japan in the age of warring states. At the center of this role-playing, action-adventure simulation of combat, statesmanship and intrigue, you are a samurai warrior struggling for honor. More important than life itself, honor is crucial to achieving your ultimate goal: unifying feudal Japan under your noble rule.
_________________________________

Story

Basically, you lead a lineage of noble Japanese lords as they ascend from simple local leader to conqueror of the entire realm. During your voyage, you will have to perform numerous feats- from leading your armies in combat to sneaking in kidnapper hideouts, wishing to rescue the maiden worthy of your family's name. You will also enter in furious duels, and take part in court intrigues which never cease to threat your position in game.

Your goal? To ultimately become the Shogun.

Gameplay

Sword of the Samurai is a fantastic mixture of strategy and action elements, which can teach a lot of lessons to modern gaming titles.

It is up to you to use your wits, followers and skills to usurp, assassinate or befriend the opposition. You can also dishonour your opponents, and force them into ruin by nefarious means- but beware! Any treachery resulting in failure to slay your superiors can mean loss of face and honour, forcing you and your family to commit seppuku, ritual suicide.

You can take on a wife and create a dynasty, that will one day inherit the title of Shogun, lord and master of all Japan, unified under your banner.

Graphics | Immersion | Sound

Sword of Samurai is remarkable at giving you the impression of really "being there". Despite old graphics and rudimentary sound, it somehow manages to immerse you in its fascinating world, as you anxiously think of your next move.

Difficulty

Fortunately the game is very unforgiving on higher difficulties, but never frustrating. You always blame yourself for failures, angry that you succumbed to your greed or agression.

The drawbacks? Sometimes you build your character to a very high level, only to die in a duel or lose prestige due to a bad choice. Then you are put in position of your character's own son, whose stats might annoy you at first. But luckily, thanks to quick progression the game doesn't bore you too much with this.

Price

Normally the game will hold you back $6.99, I bought it on sale for $0.97 however.

Conclusion

In any case, I highly suggest this game to everyone, especiallly those who value gameplay and immersion in a title. The controls may be a little wanky, and the graphics may not have aged incredibly well, but if you put your mind to it and take the time to settle yourself on the game you're in for a good time.
