Early Access Review
I think Valheim is pretty much the most viking game I have ever seen which is not surprising, in a sense, being developed in Sweden and all (in a town called Skövde, close to what once used to be a great viking seat, Skara).

Beyond that, this game is what I consider to be one of the best examples of great game design and mechanics out there for a survival game, which is also very fun to play (much too often these two things don't come together). It is an interesting mesh up of gameplay ideas inspired from other games like Minecraft, Zelda, Rust, Dark Souls etc. and authentic even original ideas with a special personal touch that makes them all work together in a unexpected brilliant way.

As a personal game dev note, the world generator is the work of a genius mind...

Event though it is in early access, this release contains a very generous amount of content which for most of the players it will take quite some time to consume. The game looks absolutely amazing, it is a great experience to play, both single player and multiplayer. Like many others out there, I did felt a bit like playing Minecraft for the first time, in alpha many, many years ago...

Of course, it is not perfect, but it really comes very close to it.
The only part that I think it needs a bit of attention right now would be the multiplayer interface for server searching, filtering, connecting etc. Right now it is often difficult to find servers and with dedicated servers you often have to use the messy Steam interface, punch passwords two times etc.

I am really looking forward to see what the game will bring both in terms of improvements and content and I know for a small team like this, the sudden success must be tremendous pressure. So, hold tight and take it easy. You already made us happy!

Update:

I played again Pendula after the latest 5th episode release and the game has evolved so much! It feels so much better and consistent. Several parts of the game have been revamped and optimized, starting with the main story, introduction of new an improved dialog system, interaction and overall consistency. The game matured through the episodes in a much more solid and fun experience. I definitely recommend this game now!

The game has a very particular style and atmosphere that either you like it either you don't. it is a bit strange, a bit quirky, a bit special and not your common indie game experience for sure.
I recommend this game because of its subtlety and character often times hidden behind a very charming naivety.

Thinking about the price for the game, I think it is well deserved, if not for the story, at least for the idea, the intention and the music.

I found the story interesting in the beginning but very disappointing in the end. I was expecting some sort of meaningful lesson to be learned, but it was nothing like that. I was actually quite surprised that the end was the least interesting between all the ideas of an ending that I would have thought about. Too bad...
I was also a bit turned off by the repetitive nature of being forced after each successful scan to get back to the ship screen in order to follow the next phase of the story.
There seem to be some lose ends in the story with all the missing notes and such, which I couldn't find anywhere. It felt that I get clues for non-existing puzzles.

I took my time a bit playing the game, using the more "challenging" mode and did not rush straight to the end of the story. I just wanted to explore a bit around, but in the end, I didn't quite understood what was the game expecting of me, gameplay wise, besides completing some achievements.

Overall it felt that the game tried to do more than be just a "walking simulator" and compromised a bit too much to achieve that goal.

It is a keeper for me, but I can't really recommend it.
