I don't know what happened with this DLC. The base game is bug-free, this is not. I should not have to switch to an older graphics-rendering method to bypass elevators immobilizing you if you don't jump before they reach their destination. I got stuck in the floor, unable to move several times in my playthrough. One positive note is that this DLC made me master quick-saving and loading.

The unfortunate thing about this DLC to me is that it introduces a very cool weapon that is 100% missable. I missed it and I'm sure it would've made every encounter afterwards much easier for me. Unlike the base game, this DLC has no way to reacquire it afterwards. I consider this a failure in the design. Showing players the new features you added is a vital portion of making new features. Not only that, but the final boss is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slog and a half. It entirely too long to beat it, and there's nothing clever to learn or any real novel challenge to overcome. Just rinse and repeat and the game ends.

This DLC for some reason, made me turn to a walkthrough way more than Half-Life or Blue Shift. I only got stuck once or twice in those. Here, I had to look up what to do about 4 times. The feedback the game gives you is either unclear or the situations it places you in are entirely too lethal to navigate by instinct. Or at least, my instinct. That said, the story beats and additional story is a nice thing. I'd recommend watching the story for this one. Too much cruft for me to consider even replaying properly.

You get to play as a security guard and experience a good 5 or 6 extra levels of Half-Life action. Get this if you liked Half-Life, it's sweet, short and adds to the universe imo.

This game still has a lot of stuff going for it. 1998 first person shooter. In that frame of reference, this game is a marvel. You got rocket launchers, crazy made-up physics guns, secondary fire options that feel very cool when you know how to use them, and a story that is easy to understand and leads to a lot of potential rabbit holes.

My only issue with games like these is I never know how difficult the game is supposed to be. I picked medium and the encounters feel quite fair most of the time. The problem is the game increasingly require more and more platforming of you as the levels go on. This is something the game does not excel at. The platforming feels exacting and unfun. I grew on up Nintendo platformers and find any puzzles or obstacles requiring jumping dexterity in the game to be a real drag. The final boss battle is marred for me because of this. When the game is focusing on FPS action and novelty, which is most of the time, that is when it shines.

The puzzles that require navigation skills and not exact jumps are quite good. The weapons are thought out, and paced quite well. The music honestly pretty good when they have it. I would still recommend this game if you wanna check out an old-school FPS that probably inspired a lot of people.

Have you ever wanted to experience intense anxiety and pressure with your friends as you all die picked off one by one by a superior team? Well, this is the game for you, and when you eventually win after losing a bunch, you feel like a million bucks. This is mainly a multiplayer game and I would not recommend it unless you have friends because cooperating strategically with strangers online is both a sisyphean and a herculean task. And getting yelled at by strangers for playing a game "wrong" is something no one should ever have to tolerate in their entire existence. That's just general advice, not even for this game in particular.

But anyway, this game has some very cool characters with awesome abilities and potential for highly variable gameplay. And wouldn't you know it, there's even a perfectly satisfactory single player or stricly cooperative online mode where you don't even have to get rekt by other players. As a last word of advice, the season passes are actually worth it unfortunately (or fortunately).

Update: Nominated for Mom's Spaghetti award because it's the sweatiest game I've played.

I don't have anything particularly good to say about this game. Nothing struck me as exceptional but I think that's ok. I just liked the mechanics and gameplay and had a good time with it.

I really wasn't expecting anything great out of what I thought as an old gta clone but it delivered more than I ever expected. It's similar to gta but it feels more arcadey and tailored to fun. I would only recommend the gentlemen of the row mod for this game to fix anything that could go wrong with it.

This is what I think can be called a modern day classic game. The world the game creates feels like something that they really put a lot of thought into with characters that absolutely fit in and interact in charming and very interesting ways. When I remember this game, I remember it in the same way I do a good movie or book. It has that strong of a unifying theme and directed narrative experience, except you can actually play it. The gameplay and mechanics are some of the least memorable parts of this to me because they just feel so natural to the story they're going for. And I think of that as a good thing.

This is the only game in my library that I straight up bought and didn't like playing. I wanted to play this to do stealthy heists with friends but the game insists you play the same way over and over by just mowing down waves of police while you wait on timer after ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arbitrarily long timer. You can do stealth but you need to buy a lot of stuff for that and that means playing a while the regular way to grind up enough money. It's a bit like GTA Online except it's all grinding and there's nothing in the way of single player content. And they just keep adding dlc that you need to download that makes the game size massive; and for some reason you need to download all 30+ gigabytes of the game every two weeks there's an update. Oh yeah and if you were to attempt to get all the dlc for this game, you would be in the hole well over $50 even with sales since there's no season pass or deluxe that just gets you everything. It is truly run like a free to play game with an entrance fee.

This feels like a free to play that I accidentally paid money for. The AI teammates I guess were not intended to be used in single player so your best bet is to find some random game to join. After that you can enjoy the obnoxiously long timers on everything from drilling through a safe to waiting for something to hack while you get assaulted by wave after wave of police. It reminds me of nazi zombies on COD except without any of the cool weapons or interesting mechanics. If you play with friends, this is probably way more fun, but what game is that not true for?

If you've played just cause 2, you should avoid this one. I think I would've withstood playing it for longer if I had never touched JC2 or if it weren't so terribly messed up on PC. The resolution it opens in and using a controller were what it gave me trouble with.
