Its okay, $60 is steep

I had no hype at all for this game and I am still disappointed.

Starfield has its qualities. Gameplay wise its any other Bethesda game, but it is ruined by the very mechanic that gives it any kind of draw; the spaceship and space travel. While I enjoyed the actual spaceflight mechanics in terms of combat and maneuvering, for actual travel it is little more than a glorified and menu-dense playerhome/fast travel system.

It clearly took influences from ED and NMS, but applied those ideas in a stunningly Blizzard-esque "We learned the wrong lessons" manner. At no point in travel do you actually feel like you are piloting a spacecraft as you would in either of those games. Even for a Bethesda title, even with a SSD, too much of the game is spent on loading screens.

The setting lacks the charm of Fallout or the lore-density of Elder Scrolls. Its characters and story fail effectively achieve the themes that the developers were trying to accomplish.

Maybe it gets better the longer you go, and as I can't return it at this point I guess we will see....But honestly, don't go for this at full price. It is not worth it.
