UPDATE January 14th: Well well well. I've played for the last couple of 2-3 months and have to admit, the game got better. Modders are also kind of saving the game again, just like they did with Cities 1. I wonder, why there's still so many people complaining about crashes, all the crashes I had so far were mod related and not game related. Without mods there were absolutely no crashes.

One thing, the game can still improve on: Mod loading takes forever, especially if you have 40 mods, which is a huge bummer. Games like Baldurs Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 can handle way more mods without huge issues in loading them first. The game also becomes fairly unresponsive on startup, because they have to PRELOAD all your mods somehow (which seems weird to me, since the games I named work without preloading them, cuz they are already inside the games folder and loaded in immediately).

To this day, I would recommend getting this game again, get some cool mods, detail a bit and just have fun.

For those who want to confront me now, read the rest of my review. I was very disappointed of the communications of the devs and how they blamed us for their bad game and now they finally get ♥♥♥♥ done.

UPDATE March 25th: They finally added the long awaited mod support and I have to say, it's broken af. The paradox mod launcher does not work at all and generally crashes with an error, that it could not connect to the server. Sorr, but wtf? USE THE STEAM WORKSHOP. It was build specially for that case. We don't care about console players having mods or not.

apart from me having over 40 hours in the game already, i have to say, either colossal did something wrong or paradox. we got promised so much, we got promised a fully featured working city builder with mod support and did not get any of that. instead the game was a bugfest on launch and a couple of weeks after. now they delay the mod support "until march", which should've been their top priority right before/after launch.

it's so sad, how games like these can get published and released even tho they are in their "early stage" and not the product they advertised to the fans.

at this stage, i won't recommend getting the game at all and stick to cs1. may update this review later on (probably mid or end 2024).

Game is fun, if it weren't for those stupid performance issues and random crashes. Those crashes have even ♥♥♥♥♥♥ worse with the last update. It's literally unplayable right now.

It's the second time WB Games screwed up a game. Hope it gets fixed soon!

WHAT HAPPENED?
I never remembered the Sherlock Holmes games being soooo brutally boring. Can't continue playing the game, since the story bores me down so much and the gameplay is even worse.
They took the cool parts from all the other Sherlock games and made them worse. The intuition system is a mess, the "mind cage" or whatever it was called is weird. There's tons of new icons and who knows what, everything is just cluttered with everything.

Also: WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS SOUND DESIGN? It's terrible. There's no NPC talking. When you stand beside an NPC it's just "MHMMM MMHMMM" and when you have to talk to them because of a quest, they say a standard phrase and then you have to read a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of text, which would be their voiced answer I assume. In previous games, the atmosphere was great, because NPCs indeed did talk and NPCs gave you an answer without you reading.

The UI itself is cluttery af, it takes too much space and I can't really enjoy the scene at all. Not sure what happened Frogwares, but you know better.

The game is fun and all, but after one year there's nothing of the promised content updates and CDPR also is very silent about everything, barely talking to the Community.

This is very painful in my opinion, because I see great potential in this IP and it treated by CDPR like garbage.

It's so addicting. Some people compare it to Banished but I have to say, Banished is nothing like this (at least from my POV). Game is quite challenging, you will fail a lot and learn a lot.

I DONT RECOMMEND OF GETTING THIS GAME. AI Drivers are way too OP and don't get a penalty for cutting of track, they ram you without any reason.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: California Highway Reverse is broken af, because you always get a cut off track for absolutely nothing.

Thank you for wasting my precious money and nerves.

One of the best city builders out there. Community is pretty active and the workshop items are amazingly cool.

Interesting and challenging game.
