If you've only played the demo, get the full game. There's no overlap between the demo and the full game.

This game uses two main game concepts: Choices and time travel. The time travel part is cool, but out of all the different choices you can make, only one affects the outcome in the end. But the things that get on my nerves are abrupt cutscenes and console-styled checkpoints. I would rather point you to a better game: The Stanley Parable.

This game is great overall, but it has its fair share of faults. Some great things are the hunters, which are a challenge (and one of the few video game enemies I actually fear), the great environments, and an antlion fight. But its faults are a fight with multiple striders and dozens of hunters at the end, the cliffhanger at the end, and most importantly, the lack of another game to tell more of the story. Valve's avoidance (e.g. silence, dodging questions) on the series seems to indicate that they've backed themselves into a corner and don't care about Half-Life anymore. Either that or they think the number three is a myth. Please Valve, talk to us.

EDIT: Half-Life: Alyx has since been released.

Just like Half-Life 2 + episodes but with your friends and complete strangers. You can also customize items and add maps easily thanks to the steam workshop.

Pros: Improved graphics, commentary, less than 10 gigabytes to download, runs on Windows and OS X, and GNU/Linux, found out that npcs can shoot at me where on normal HL2 npcs couldn't see me, is free (if you already have normal HL2).

Cons: If you like completely changed things (completely new challanges, new models and textures), you should skip this.

Notes: Overall, I really like this mod, it makes a great game even better. Why should I write this when you can download it and try it yourself for free? Just go ahead and try it out.
