An absolutely phenomenal continuation of the excellent story from the previous game (A Plague Tale: Innocence); bigger scale, lots of emotions.

Initially, I was put off by the sudden drop of French accents between games and somewhat clunkier ammo-swapping mechanics but both of these in some ways help reinforce the characterisation of Amicia, Hugo and the rest of the cast.

There are, however, some performance issues leading to stuttering but I was able to mostly avoid these by disabling ray-tracing and further adjusting settings might be able to eliminate them completely.

There is so much I want to say about these games but I really think they are worth exploring blind. Just know that they are extremely character and narrative-focused and if you don't go in willing to invest in Amicia and her bond with Hugo then you might end up feeling like your time has been wasted on a game you didn't connect with. Play Innocence first.
