Guacamelee is crazy fun. One of the tags on Steam is "MetroidVania" which is absolutely accurate. And I f*cking LOVED both of those games which is probably why I'm digging this so hard.

Super Metroid is one of the highlights of my gaming time on SNES. That game was "open world" before "open world" was "open world". I would spend so much time traveling back and forth being frustrated until that oh-so satisfying "EUREKA!!!!" moment. And Castlevania, while being a lot more linear in the early games, was a game that was VERY demanding about timing and learning enemy movements. I always hated it at first (like those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ floating Medusa heads) but once you start to get it, it becomes rhythmic.

And then I saw the Mario reference and I was completely sold. It took me a little over an hour of play to really feel this way but... yeah. 10/10 will continue playing and be frustrated and then conquering those frustrations and feeling like a god (or at least feeling like whatever lowly god is really good at wall jumping and then headbutting things).
