Destiny is a behemoth of a game to get into, but once you start to understand how the systems work and how your weapons' perks synergize with your class, the game becomes a blast to play. With the Final Shape, build crafting has become almost limitless thanks to the new prismatic subclass, leading to an addictive loop of trying new weapons and armor combinations to see how much better you can improve your playstyle. Since this is a live service game, there are high points and low points, and right now, the game finally feels like it's unlocked part of its full potential. There's a reason it's stuck around as long as it has throughout its various low points, and the Final Shape feels like the delivery on a promise that Bungie made its loyal playerbase since the first trailer over a decade ago. There's a reason this game maintains a loyal userbase. It's a confusing, challenging game to start playing, but once you start to understand it, there really isn't anything else comparable out there.

Early Access Review
There's a lot of things I really enjoyed about this game, from the movement giving you a lot of options to the general atmosphere and presentation being a cut above other games like this. However, there's something off about the game's hit detection in matches that have more players in it, and playing a guessing game whether your shots hit or not makes the overall experience more frustrating than fun. This is especially felt with weapons that don't use hit scan like the GL, which will sometimes show you a visual indicator that you hit something only to see the health bar not change. I'm willing to give this game another shot in the future, but right now it's just a frustrating experience. This isn't even mentioning the matchmaking (which is getting fixed) placing new players with veterans who have upgraded relics and a lot more experience knowing how to run relic routes and how the guns function.

I plan on revisiting the game in the future if it can pick up traction, but right now it's just far too frustrating for me to recommend to people.

I hate Destiny 2.

It's my favorite game.

I went in optimistic about this being something similar to Gigantic or Super Monday Night Combat, but with awkward animations, poor gunplay, a lack of character identity, and almost 30 seconds between respawning, this game is a very poor excuse for a hero shooter. It learned none of the lessons set forth by games like Bloodline Champions, Gigantic, Battleborn, and other failed hero shooters and instead amplifies those issues by making every combat encounter a slog.

Steer clear.
