The concept, mechanics, and design are all there, but I just can't get over how clunky the controls are. The whole thing feels like it was built for a console and never reworked for PC. Its frustrating when I can't open a chest if there's an item sitting on the ground in front of it because the [space] key operates both picking up the item and opening up the chest. Or when I select a monkey to do something and then before I can give them the proper tool, it will move so its stacked on another monkey (or two) and now I can't select them. Why couldn't I just put some tools in a chest or on the ground and the monkeys will go fetch them on their own? I've played for about 7 hours and most of that was with extreme patience.
I know its still in beta so I'll come back in a few months and see if anything has improved.
