Bad game. Feels rushed and unfinished.

Took the bait with the removal news. On the plus side I don't think it is ever returning to the store.

It's just not worth it.

As most say, better stay with the originals.

Came looking for "Limbo 2"

Now I know I was only craving for some PLAYDEAD.

I'm blown away.

My GPU overheated and started showing artifacts all over the game's terminal.

It took me almost a minute to realize this was actually not an intended part of the game :)

Review Written on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016

Pros:

  1. Huge environments filled with randomized interactable objects.
  2. Lots of materials and elements to mix and play around with.
  3. Remarkably nice visuals that make exploring and building a fun experience.
  4. PvP Multiplayer with the ability to protect your buildings from other player’s attacks.
  5. World consistency for all players.
  6. No levels or unlocks whatsoever, everything is there from the start.
  7. Ability to create your own customized character.
  8. Steam Workshop integration.

Cons:
  1. Shallow on single player content and multiplayer depth at the moment.
  2. Server side bugs affect building and material inventory consistency.
  3. Client side bugs that affect gameplay flow.
  4. Lack of proper settings and optimization (high ram usage and short max draw distance)
  5. Close to none character animations.
  6. Unpolished combat mechanics.
  7. Non-existent AI.

Review

I think it's safe to say that this is definitely not my usual style of game, and I surely didn't had any high hopes for this one in particular either.
Seeing how it was just recently released to early access, with a banner reminder of those cheap flash games ads at Russian shareware sites, I was already starting to lament what my life had gone to become...

But I didn't.

Not only that, I profoundly enjoyed the experience, and I think I quite understood where the dev wants to go with it.
While playing this game, I could easily see all those ideas I have somehow come up with at some time in my life, smartly reduced and simplified to fast learning game mechanics, and applied to a randomized fantasy world that is constantly renewed by the players and the game itself, which I found hard to get bored with.
There is no levelling, no unlocking, and no tedious feeding/sleeping/healing systems applied, and you can get access to the complete game as soon as you start, that's if you ever find out how to.
The thing with this game is that it leaves all its quirks to be found by playing, creating a natural “unlock” system that is not limited by the coding, but the actual learning curve of the player, which I found rather amazing.
I have a lot of wishes and suggestions for this game, but I think it managed to present itself to me in a way, that it has shown some serious potential. It could become something that I didn't knew I wanted to play.
I decided to test this game in its basic current version to measure its future, and see how well it could stand up if it ever gets some decent support.
Though there is currently no mechanic to make use of buildings for any PvP or PvE aspect of this game (I mean really, absolutely no use) I proposed myself to make the tallest castle in the furthest and highest mountain I could find, just for the sake of it.
This project required some serious grinding I soon found out not to be made for, as mining stones though the desert the world got me bored pretty quickly.
In one of my trips back home from this grinding sessions, I found this unattended finished construction. I went inside and saw its beauty, but most Importantly, how much time was invested in acquiring all that precious material.
So I mixed some air and fire I had gathered back home, and made myself a fireball.
Watching it burst through that simple four wall building felt oddly satisfying, a feeling greatly intensified when I got to collect all the stone that flew bursting from it.
I had collected an hours’ worth of grinding material in just a few minutes, and had an absolute blast doing it.

I decided I would do it again.

Soon I found myself doing daily flyby's through the multiplayer world, looking for abandoned constructions to burst and loot, and every day I got some kicks out of it.
People are extremely creative and I almost always found some amazing constructions being built all around. I started to use the best ones as reference points to learn my way through the world, while my castle back at the mountain grew higher and higher.
Once I reached the sky limit for the game (that’s 510 blocks of altitude by the way) and stood up there watching the world from it’s top with a fireball in my hand, I came to me.
I had made myself the server’s villain, and I was having S O M U C H F U N.

People where chatting on how buildings where getting systematically destroyed all around the island, wondering about the sign left over the ruins reading 1460;510;1340.
I soon got visitors to my castle and found myself with the anger of adventurous players that dared to climb up to my mountain tower, only to be greeted by a simple wall sign and a torch reading “Trilyan’s Lair”.
Seeing how I've reached 20 hs in this game in just 2 weeks, I am certainly amazed...
It’s by no means a polished and finished experience, but I think I tested the basic concepts enough to realize there is a guaranteed future for the game, provided it ever gets the player support it needs.

The freedom of a unlimited PvP experience inside a persistent and mouldable world is something I had yet to experience and I’m sure that with a little help from a decent player base, this could refine a lot of its current edges and become a decent successor to the prehistoric Minecraft reference gameplay model.

6/10

Recommendation:
Only buy at full price if you are into crafting games and are craving for something new.
Wait for a discount if are only curious about it.
Do not buy if you are neither of the above.

It's a good game. Good as in not awesome, but still enjoyable.

It has great playability, combat is fun and movement is on point.

Sadly, it is badly optimized (at least for NVIDIA) and has choppy "Hollywood" like over-exaggerated cutscenes with weirdly placed triggers.

Story is so, so. It had potential at some point, but it is ultimately wasted. Feels like a Sunday "they all die" movie. Ending seems rushed and incomplete, too many loose plot points.

Gameplay wise is where the game does shine, although it does have some issues.
QTE's for explame, are a joke, as if someone said "hey, most action adventure games have QTE nowadays, let's add some".
They ultimately add nothing new or fun, and if you add this to choppy cutscenes and lag, it actually hurts the experience.

I arrived late to the TR party so I could not experience mutiplayer games at all. I tried several times and found not a single soul in any of the game modes, but I must admit they sound like it would be fun, as combat and stealth action is probably the best of this game.

It took me some time to complete to %100, and achievements are fun if you like to explore the game's vast environments.

I definitely recommend this game if you are craving for a "movie like" action adventure with some amazing production values that you can spend some time in, just don't expect to be blown away by it's story or legacy.

Hopefully the next one will care to take itself a bit more seriously and expand the story further.

Have you ever played Mafia? You know, the game where you and your friends pretend you are all civilians, but some of you are actually Mafia gangsters ready to lie and take everyone out.
Well this game has a lot of that trust & betrayal feeling to it, though instead of pretending to be some high calibre Mafiosi, you get into the flesh of small and cute little hamsters.

You and your furry little fellows must all obey one huge monkey looking robot that watches over it all. Do as he says, and he will most probably reward you and distinguish you among your pairs. Disobey him, and you'll probably just fall under his machine-gun.
Now, before you star assuming this developer has some sort of child induced fear to primates, let me tell you the twist of it all. The giant bad ass looking robot you see from anywhere on the map? That's actually a hamster. That's right, there's one of you just hanging in inside. That bastard got up there first to watch over you and your mates. To be the leader. One ham to rule them all.
Of course, he can't be up there all by his own. All those fancy tech you see? It won't just work of air, he needs some souls to move the gears for him, and he has just the tools to make you WANT to do it.

Now, only if you ever touched a history book in you life, can you be ignorant enough of what is fond to happen in a situation like this. Yeah, those hams won't take it for long.

The fun of it all resides in that there's no actual clear way to play this game.
Be a loyal feud to your master and gain his trust.
Be a revolutionary leader and lead your pack to subversion.
Be a loner ham or the lunatic that makes everyone's life miserable.

No matter what you choose, you'll see where the fun is.

Words are plenty, and meaning hides in between. Welcome to social multiplayer.

"Aim for the heart, or you'll never stop me."

PROS:
- Non stop wild west pixel action
- Hardcore gameplay
- Lots of characters with different control schemes and play styles
- Funny power ups that fit the theme perfectly
- Chiptune/western soundtrack that hits all the right nostalgic spots
- Arcade mode for those minute sittings you want to blow things up
- Randomized story mode with a good sense of progression and achievement
- 4 player couch AND online multiplayer (FUN)

CONS:
- UI is all over the place
- Some characters can't be played with a controller (couch multiplayer bummer)
- Lacks game match style customization
- Randomized story mode sometimes does not make any sense

Price is on point on this one.
Worth full price as long as you got friends to play with, otherwise, you can wait for a discount and hit the story mode to blow up some Mexican hats.

Trust me, you'll have fun.

Wild season is basically a farm game with some sim aspects thrown in there. There's a rather mysterious story to keep things moving together, which works alright.
While this is not particularly my kind of game, it does it's best to keep you hooked and you can see right away that the developer has put a lot of effort into it.
It's still absolutely filled with bugs, but as long as the game stays in early access, I don't think that's something to be upset about.

I kinda liked the art style they are going for. It's somewhat reminiscent of those older flash games you used to play when you were young, with a bit of JRPG anime and portable console nostalgia thrown into the mix.
Music sets the mood just fine and the sound effects are on point.
Animation quality is somewhat above your standard indie JRPG quality, but nothing to be exited about (bugs really bother here right now).

Right now I've seen quite a few things that definitely need to addressed on the way, and as this kind of games only work with constant playtime and player progression, I can't recommend to throw in your game time hours just yet.

Still, as a whole, I think fans of the genre will be pleased to have this on PC once it's finished and achieves the console-like quality it's clear it's aiming for. It will definitely have it's place at the steam store if it ultimately gets there, so thumbs up for the dev and the hard work that awaits!

Final veredict: Wait for early access to end if you expect the full experience right from the start. Buy now if you wish to support the idea and help the developer get it just right. Not sure about the price though, I would wait for good a sale.
