I enjoy pinball games, and save for some personal misgivings about the ball and flipper physics, Pinball Arcade is mostly an enjoyable pinball game. This does, however, come at the cost of some minor to major caveats.

The graphical fidelity is spotty, with older tables appearing to not have gotten fresh coats of paint to look contemporary to newer releases. Certain newer tables also feel slapdash at times, dropping frames and presenting crackly sound as if it were a bad Super Nintendo emulator from the late 1990s. The table launcher is and has been a giant mess since release, feeling like a lousy tablet interface coupled with bad M/K and controller support. Speaking of controller support, that appears to be spotty. Unless you've monkeyed around with Steam's less-than-stellar controller mapping options or other external tools, don't expect to plug in a Dualshock 4 and expect it to work right away.

All of these quibbles, though, are peanuts when met with the biggest drawback to this release as of July 2018: the owner of the rights to pinball tables from Bally and Williams has allowed those rights to lapse, rendering a vast majority of the game's catalog unable to be purchased anymore. As such, I cannot recommend this to new players.

Since it's been confirmed that development has stopped (or rather, no new content is being added) for the PC version of this game, fully relegating it to "gimped port" status, there's no reason to recommend this. With this and the Arkham Knight debacle, it's clear that WB simply isn't interested in PC game players.

Resident Evil 4 on Steam is still the same fantastic game it was on the Nintendo Gamecube almost a decade ago, albeit with a couple of technical quirks.

This mostly has to deal with the new option to adjust the game's framerate from the previous 30 to a silky 60 frames per second. While this works fine about 90-95% of the time, due to the game originally being coded to run at 30fps, cutscene dialogue will de-sync, some particle effects will disappear early, and most damning, timing for the game's many QTEs (notably the "mash" actions) are adjusted significantly. Again, the rest of the game is fine, but if you're looking to sit back and watch the cutscenes, or you're stuck on a QTE sequence, you might be better off leaving that setting alone.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I received the game for free as part of a video card promotion.

Poor shooting, dumbed-down item management, bad AI, and a constantly-railroaded play experience make Bioshock Infinite tough to recommend over other entries in the *Shock series from a mechanical standpoint. Regarding the story, it's even more of a mess, with plot holes, huge leaps in logic, and characters impossible to care about. Overall, Bioshock Infinite is a disappointing product and is not worth your money.
