The game was marked as released, that is why I bought it. The game is actually version 0.8.x and it is really obvious that it isn't finished. This should have opened as an Early Access title, as it stands it feels like a cash grab when you say something is released and it is still a beta. There are dozens of teams that have done this and never finished the game.

The settings page is bugged and resets every time you restart the game. The Campaign Tutorial starts with having you expand the inn, except... there aren't any decent instructions on how to do that. It says to click a build tool, which there isn't a build tool, there is a build menu and nothing in there lets you expand the inn.

I'm pretty good at figuring things out, even when they're relatively undocumented and after a half hour I still couldn't get passed the FIRST task of the tutorial before the game even starts.

This game is right up my alley, but I paid for a finished game not a beta or an early access. I would have been much more open to the flaws had the game been marked as EA. Maybe I'll come back for v1.0... if I remember.

I could only recommend this if you are ok with a beta product game, since it isn't labeled Early Access I have to say Not Recommended.

Early Access Review
Tl:Dr

Great idea, solid base even though buggy. Development is sloooooow, but NOT dead according to Trello. Don't buy if you're expecting fast paced updates or don't want to risk 10 bucks on a 3 man team. You'd spend this much for a 20min meal, you'll get just as much satisfaction here.

------------------

As mentioned above, the game has a lot of promise but the devs don't exactly get or at least care about how PR, hype, and marketing work. Honestly, they're Russian, and may find it more productive to spend their time working on tasks vs translating press releases for the reset of us when they already provide public access to their Trello board.

The devs go practically silent for months at a time, and people think the game is dead. From what I can tell the development is chugging along according to their Trello board. There are tasks getting completed including tasks being marked done this month. So in their defense, you CAN view the development Trello board and see that they are actively making progress. Just don't expect to get a nice shiney weekly update.

As for the game, it has a very side scrolling tycoon style too it with a drug twist. You play a scientist cooking/growing drugs for sale. There appears to be a story arc being developed for those who are into campaigns. There is also a level editor and they're trying to make the game as open as possible for modder support. There's $10 worth of game already available in my opinion, it's just not feature complete and buggy.

In my honest opinion, the devs are going at a snails pace and probably won't finish this game. HOWEVER, it's already worth $10 bucks to me rightnow. If they pull off a few more updates involving sandbox before they tank it's still worth it.

I would only buy this game if you want to support the indie community and this is your bag. You will not be satisfied if you expect weekly or monthly updates. Follow the Trello: https://trello.com/b/0Za3dGyq/basement

Early Access Review
TL;DR Game has been in Alpha EA for over half a decade. Don't buy until the devs actually start delevering. IMO They've made their money, they're not going to finish anything this decade. I'd be amazed if they did.

Was an original backer when this game first hit Desura from ModDB/IndieDB about 6 years ago. A few months in and NPCs were removed and this seemingly deep and compelling zombie survival RPG turned into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ collect random ♥♥♥♥ until you die sandbox. Devs constantly promised NPCs would come back soon, then it was we're working on it, then they needed to build another system to get them working, then it was it'll be done when it's done and you got smacked down for even asking on the forums.

Devs over promised, under-delevered, and completely changed the base game they sold to original backers. I've avoided writing this for years hoping I'd eventually get to see the return of NPCs and the story. 6 years later and they're still missing, there's still engrossing environment, and most of the systems that were promised and prototyped in the beginning are just gone and "being worked on". It's literally been a half decade and those features still haven't become "finished work on"

AMD 8320, 16GB RAM, GTX 970 SC, installed on a M.2 950 Pro since the game is only 2.5GB. At this time I've had zero crashes, minimal stutter, and I've made it to 5 or 6 different planets, used hyper drive, and ran all over a few planets. I don't have any framerate issues. I play on high with shadows on medium, vsync enabled, frame cap disabled at 1080P AF maxed and AA on low. Haven't tested the actual framerate but it's more than playable. Monitor refresh rate is 60hz.

The game itself is pretty much what it's supposed to be minus the multiplayer. There are numerous types of planets and it's kinda cool thinking that a lot of the "discoveries" you make are your discoveries and will actually never be seen by eyes other than yours. It's like exploring deep space. The graphics are nice and stylized and the biomes are rather varied. I feel like the AI for the creatures could use some work as I've noticed Predator and Prey type animals within 5ft of each other not even pretending to notice each other. The multi-tool is cool and upgradable and has many different variations. You can upgrade your exo-suit and ship. Find crash ships and repair them and claim them, or buy new ships on space stations from the other aliens that land in the station. The dialouge intereactions with the aliens are a bit shallow, but they do have some random "choose the right action, get a reward" style dialouge trees. Learning the multiple languages in the systems will be fun. Currently I've met the Vy'Keen and the Gex, both with their own language to learn.

Right now, for me, the game is playable and what I expected. I'll be playing it a lot more and will probably be one of the 50+hr games in my library. If the developer continues to support the game and adding content and new features over the course of it's lifetime it will truly be a great game. However, if they stop supporting it and don't add on to the game after launch it's only worth about $30.

As it stands, if you're not into space exploration and discovery and all the things that come with that. Then I would wait on the game to go on sale. In it's current state it is not worth $60 unless you are crazy about games like this and need it now. For your average gamer it's only worth a decent indie standard 30 bucks, easy.

Almost 4 years later and this game is still being updated with as much love and care as what went into creating it. I recommend supporting Ape now more than ever, a true developer.

TL;DR This is everything Harvest Moon should have evolved into. If you loved any of the early Harvest Moon games, then buy this. Don't even think about it, just get it. You won't regret it at all.

Recommending this game for Best Newcomer of the Year. Ape took an idea from nothing and created a labor of love. Completely on his own up to release. Very few people ever heard of the game or its development besides a few of us fanatical followers. It seemed like the game would go largely un-noticed. Then release day came and over night the game became a sensation. Hailed as everything harvest moon should have became and an amazing masterpiece. It definitely deserves the vote.

I spent a lot of time in the SNES HM game and I'll tell you, from the moment I started up Stardew Valley it was like coming home. All the nostalgia is there, the community, the sounds, the feel of the game. This is everything that HM should have evolved into over the years but didn't. There's plenty of crops and things to do and the mine adds a whole new aspect to the farming sim genre with some minor combat. The game also features some RPG like elements with the ability to level up certain skills like farming, foraging and fishing. There's tool upgrades etc. All the animals make a come back too with cows, sheep, chickens, goats, etc.

There are a few minor bugs with dialouge but that is the only thing I've noticed and Ape has already put out a couple of updates to fix some problems people have reported. ConcernedApe is a good dev, you won't regret supporting him.

Look forward to everything he does in the furture.

The game is alright, I played it way before it even came to steam when it was just browser based. It's till stronghold for the most part but it's completely online. Sounds like cool fun right? How about no. This is strictly one of those broswer based Facebook style games in every sense of the word and has no business on steam. It's "P2W" and timer based like every other free-to-play RTS out there.

Nothing ruins a game more than getting neck deep into it just to find out you HAVE to quit for 6 hours because there's nothing left to do. Seriously, it's going to take that long for some of your buildings to complete construction. If you like these kinds of games and find the majority of your free time syphoned by similar games on Facebook, go for it. If you're a serious Stronghold fan however, avoid this monstrosity at all costs.
