Amazing game. Beautiful graphics. I got it on sale for $20USD which is about the max I pay for games.

If you've never played a RE game before it's definitely enjoyable on its own and without prior plot knowledge.

The story is a successor to RE7, with the meta game mostly inspired by RE4, and the big stalking baddie from RE2/RE3.

Multiplayer is a buggy mess. DL2 is very obviously a single player game with multiplayer elements bolted on at the last minute. The core game mechanics are pretty loose, as in the opposite of "tight". I never know if I'm going to grab onto a ledge or not.

Plays great on the Steamdeck. Grab it on sale and have at it!

Feels incomplete, even after beating it.

So far so good. RE2R was a little better though. RE3R introduces a few small features like dodge. RE3R reuses some of the police station from RE2R, which was the best part of RE2R IMO.

Overall it feels like an expansion pack / episode for RE2R, especially with how many assets are shared between the two games. I purchased both for not more than $10 USD so I'm not too worried about it.

I do like how RE3R gives some backstory to RE2R. If you haven't played either then you should play the first half of RE3R, switch to RE2R once you reach the hospital, then come back to RE3R once you complete RE2R.

Amazing, beautiful, one of my favorites. I just wish they didn't show the Alien so much.

So far it's pretty fun. Nice and creepy. Enemies are a lot more in-your-face than in other RE titles; so much so that there's a quick button for healing and blocking. I'm also realizing crouching is important for blocking certain attacks.

The RE Engine itself seems a bit buggier in this game. Lots of window resizing and UI reflowing. Makes me think the whole thing is built using a web browser. It also seems to screw up my OS gamma until rebooting.

Update: So I beat the game. The last two areas are a bit of a slog, very dark, lots of jump scares. For the last 90 minutes or so I was getting bored and just wanted it to be over.

Spoiler: Near the end you lose all of your items and basically have to start over. That said I still finished with plenty of ammo. They also start giving out bombs like they're candy and the final boss was easily killed by placing four on the floor and detonating them. I suppose RE games aren't really known for their final bosses?

Having not played the original, and only recently playing the original RE4, so far I really enjoy this game.

Basically, from what I can tell, RE inspired the modern concept of an escape room. This game is basically that: running back and forth looking for pieces of various puzzles. While running back and forth scary things come out to get you.

The controls feel nice and the rooms are all very detailed. It's pretty creepy but without overly excessive jump scares.

A lot of the game comes down to inventory management which can be a little frustrating. Another frustrating thing is figuring out what pieces go with what puzzles: is this a handle for this jack? Or for that mechanical door?

One annoying thing is that upon every launch I'm asked if I want to enable HDR and I'm also displayed a list of all the DLC that I have "just installed". After a dozen launches there is clearly something broken with the game. HDR is also a bust and makes the game unplayable on my machine. The game also likes to jump between fullscreen and a smaller window mode occasionally during startup and shutdown. These are more issues with the RE Engine than RE2R itself.

Update: I beat the game after about 9 hours. For the final battle I had plenty of ammo and healing items. I think I missed two guns but the game was still fine without them.

A bit of a spoiler: The game has three separate "levels" where once you get to them you can't go back. The narrative does tell you when this happens, but it's definitely three very distinct places. It does feel like it slightly breaks the immersion, since you're otherwise running back and forth so much between shared locations.

Very fun, plays great on the Steam Deck (using the highest rated community input), and it still holds up today. Pick it up on sale for $5 and you'll get about 15 hours of gameplay.

Very fun. You'll die a lot. Progression is hard to measure but even though you play the first world over so many times you're still moving forward.
