Overall I recommend this game.

Pros: Highly detailed environments. Audio clips for various situations (he's in the old barn!) Good story.

Cons: Still listed as $60?! They ran out of controller buttons (tap R1 to swap guns, hold R1 to listen). Listen mode makes the game too easy. Never really feels like a horror zombie game. This port took years to have the performance bugs fixed.

I bought it for around $25. It's worth it on sale.

One of my favorite games

Visually, Crow Country looks like a pre-rendered cutscene for the Playstation 1. The puzzles are also akin to Playstation 1 era Resident Evil. Player movement, camera movement/rotation, and aiming is a bit more modern, complete with laser sights. If this sounds as appealing to you as it does to me then buy this game.

Sometimes it can get annoying. For example it's easy to accidentally aim at the sky when an enemy is standing in front of you (and there is only one case where you'd need to aim that high). Upon entering a room the camera is often pointed where you don't want it. Otherwise it's pretty solid.

This game scratches a similar itch as Signalis, though admittedly I liked that game a little better. If you beat Crow Country and are looking for what to play next then definitely get that.

Shaping up to be one of my top 10 favs.

Crashes so much, mid-match, ruining funs.

This game sucks so bad. The levels are incredibly linear. The combat revolves entirely around the stagger system and 6 hours in I wasn't able to get into it.

The graphics are pretty good though and it looks great on a steamdeck and on a big screen.

This was my first battle royale game. At the height of my career I once got 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st place in a row with a team of 3 playing against teams of 4.

That said, the game has definitely lagged behind. About 250 hours into PUBG I tried Apex Legends. I hated Apex at first, it felt so cartoon-like in comparison to PUBG. But, I eventually ended up playing Apex a lot more. Apex is much more refined with regards to smoothness of movement, player inputs, and environment interaction. The graphics are a lot better as well. PUBG always felt sluggish when it came to, say, picking items up.

Today I ran PUBG for the first time in a few years to see how much things had changed. For the most part, nothing has changed, except for a KFC sponsorship. Third person mode seems to be where most players are playing too. PUBG has become Fortnite. The graphics are still sloppy. Even on ultra settings it's like everything is drawn at a lower resolution and with jagged edges.

PUBG was a fun thing to do before Apex came around, but that's about it.

As of 2023 I wouldn't recommend that any of my friends play PUBG.

I bought the game after the "2.0" release came out, promising fixes to all of the bugs and a $35 price tag.
It's so horribly buggy that I cannot comfortably recommend this.

For hours I've been running around with the game visually glitching and my controller rumbling after the Johnny scene. Forum searches suggested this is a really common bug. Luckily someone created a mod just to fix this problem. It sounds like if you answer a phone right after the Johnny mission ends it can trigger this.

The missions bug out as well. Sometimes I'll be stuck in a mission because an enemy is lost somewhere on the other side of a building.

All the sex themes are neat at first but it gets old pretty fast. It's like a comedian that needs to swear to be funny. Come on, just be funny.

During the Riders of the Storm mission I was crouched and zoomed when I talked to Panam then my character was stuck in that mode, only able to move and turn slowly, until I restarted the game.

There are lots of cutscene dialogs where characters are talking over each other or walking away when they shouldn't.

On the way to the mall mission to do the Voodoo Boys mission, on foot, using the GPS directions, I kept getting warnings that I was about to go out of bounds.

During the fight with Matilda she kept T-Posing.

The game crashes and sends a bug report most of the time when I quit. This is after having Steam validate the game files.

All the AI graphic upscaling looks really bad. Everything smudges like the old MPEG video glitches where a keyframe is missing. Turning all this down requires turning down raytracing as well to hit a decent framerate. Once you've gotten to that point the game is much uglier than other games. A 2K AI upscaled game does not look better than a 1080 non-upscaled game. At this point I'd just take the rez hit. This is with a 5600X and an RTX4070.

Also, what's with the stupid launcher? Absolutely unnecessary. Also, turns out if you tap A a bunch of times in the launcher, it launches a bunch of game instances in parallel. Lazy developers.

I'm pretty neutral about the game. I think the problem is that I played Elden Ring first. Had I played DS3 then ER I'd probably like DS3 more. Mostly I hate not having a map. The controls are clunky too, especially having to hit R3 to jump but only while running. Ultimately I chose to refund it 90 minutes in.

Fun game. Took me 20 hours to beat it though I skipped through much of the dialog. Holds up pretty well as of late 2023.

Pros:
- Nice story, at least the bits I've paid attention to
- Graphics are decent, despite being a port of a game that's a few years old
- Dodge/roll mechanic is easy to pull off, especially after playing Elden Ring

Cons:
- Save files can get out of order and it can feel like your progress was lost
- The merchants are pretty similar
- I wish the game would auto save when I modify a weapon/armor

Overall I really enjoy the combat. There's a cycle of dodging, aiming with arrows, enabling slow motion mode, repeat. Being able to craft ammo mid-combat is pretty nice especially with boss battles.
