Chrono Trigger meets SMRPG. Banger soundtrack

Combat is so buggy, it's practically unplayable. I will try again when they patch, but in it's current state, I cannot recommend this.

While I haven't finished my first playthrough, I believe I've played enough to put out a review.

Yes, there are bugs with the game (Crashed a couple times, random inability to use quickslot items or use remaining AP to defend, quickslot items mysteriously disappearing) to name a few. But I haven't run into any that would be considered game-breaking.

Loving the story. A lot of the dialogue gives more of a "Borderlands-esque" vibe, which I'm not complaining. Definitely a worthy predecessor to WL2. The side quests are wonderful and choices do come with some consequences later on down the road. As long as you can handle the bugs right now (which I'm sure will be polished up), I would recommend this.

Update: After finishing the game, I was satisfied with the story and still highly recommend this game. There are things that I'm not sure were bugs or intentional ways of cheesing difficult fights (mainly using the vehicle in combat to one-shot enemies). I haven't had a chance to try out multiplayer yet, but I'm hoping all major issues are fixed with it.

The gameplay is fun when you don't run into bugs that halt any sort of progression (which happens A LOT). Your best bet is to make sure there's a save before taking on the quest and hoping your building/NPCs you're protecting don't get randomly blown up. The AI is about the dumbest I've seen in a long time. Have had my fair share of main story & sidequests I needed to redo due to bugs.

I cannot recommend this game unless you love restarting missions a ton.

Haven't completed, but will continue working on it. I've played the PS2 versions and remember enjoying them very much. The graphics look very good and gameplay (so far) is really good as well. There's an absurd amount of cutscenes. I don't recommend using the english dub, at least from what I've witnessed. LOTS of pauses. No complaints on JP sub.

As of right now, I cannot recommend simply because of the constant crashing of the game. I have a PC that easily meets the required specs and get crashes far too frequently.

I am investigating the cause of my crashes as the forum "fixes" don't work. If the developers either come out with a hotfix or a workaround has been identified, I will update this.

Pros:
Great graphics
Japanese voice acting is tolerable
Combat is entertaining

Cons:
Story is god awful
Characters are forgettable
Combat balance is absolutely horrible. You'll get fights you can absolutely steam roll, then next you'll get a buffed group you can't escape from and instantly wipe

To sum up: big waste of time.

This game hasn't 100% come out yet, but this game definitely has enough content to keep me busy. Fight mechanics and puzzles are challenging. I'd say the only thing I noticed is there's really no main story quest for tracking purposes, so I'll get side tracked for many hours doing side quests and botanics gathering, I forget where I left off or need to be to continue the story. Otherwise, this game is fantastic!
