Definitely don't recommend playing it if you haven't played the real game (or if you plan to eventually). SPOILERS! Fun game though, all things considered. Far too easy on Story Mode, so don't be afraid to bump up the difficulty even on your first run.

It has a frequent problem with disconnection - something Bungie should really look into.
But other than that it's a fun game.

Great music, gameplay has been improved from original PC version of Halo (mouse sensitivity issue)
Fun game, not too hard on Easy mode, great cutscenes

LOVE character creation feature.
I think it's great to have a coherent storytelling narrative behind the original game. Back in the first game you could kind of piece together a story if you beat the game as every character, but this format shows the intersection of the characters much better.
Chronicles does a good job of telling a linear story with the main characters, and is not overly difficult to beat. Libra of Souls steps it up a notch with all the challenges of arena types and buffs/debuffs I remember from SC3 - and a noticably less linear plotline.
