Did you know your single player cutscene can be terminated by network connectivity problems? Did you know that can cause you to miss those cutscenes entirely and be forced to find them on youtube?

Stellar game decision. What the ♥♥♥♥.

And we're selling battle passes?

There used to be an "insights" section which allowed you to review specifics of your performance during practice. This was part of the game the entire time I've had it. Now it's behind a paywall.

It's a free application blah blah etc but I think we all understand that restricting content behind a paywall that you previously had access to (unconditionally) is a ♥♥♥♥ move especially when there's no cilommunicatiom or explanation.

If they had released the game as an x number of hour free trial and a 5-20$ price tag after that, I'd pay it. If they had just said "Hey business is hard and we want to keep providing this service but are running out of money, consider donating $5", I'd have done that. Hell if the game was 5-10 up front I'd probably have done that too.

After a year of having a battle-pass for a "shoot the dot" training application shoved in my face after every round, the game has intentionally diminished in its utility in a bid to get users to pay for what they had already been using.

Nope. No thanks.

This game was more polished in early access than any "released" AAA game I've played in the last ten years. It is incredible how solid this thing is. When the game is this complex, the whisper of a thought of a glitch can drive you crazy. There. Are. None. I mean I'm sure there are some, and some people have found them (to be patched extremely quickly), but I have factories producing thousands of every science pack every minute, millions of solar panels, 100,000 robots or more, and mods to boot and nope. Not a single glitch in 700 hours of play. I literally don't understand how it's possible. Every time there's a problem, it is my fault. And in this kind of game that is both incredible and extremely comforting.

The itch that this game scratches cannot be scratched anywhere else.

One time back when the PS2 was cutting edge, I read an article in GameInformer Magazine - still remember the headline, at least the gist of it: "Half-Life, Halo Killer?" Now at the time I didn't have an Xbox, but had read the Halo cannon, drew art of the Master Chief and the elites, and really, really, really wanted to play Halo. I got it for Christmas but that's not the point. At something like 11 years old, "Half-Life, Halo Killer?" was almost an insult. I didn't get a gaming capable PC until years later, played the Half-Life Saga, and, out of time from its release, was unimpressed. I've kind of held a grudge against the series ever since in the same way one holds a grudge against a pop music star because everyone likes them and you don't.

Half-Life: Alyx, it changed that.

That's it. That's the review. The game was enough to overcome a two-decade old grudge and I haven't even beaten it yet. Enjoy.

this is the game cycle frontier where you can have a pick axe to hit rocks and make them give you more rocks where you can give the rocks to a robot that can make a bag for you to pick up more rocks in but you have to be carefol because other people want the rocks and might hit you and yell at you if you take their rocks but you can hit them back and take their rocks and then make the robot make you a new bag for more rocks. also the bag can hold things that are not rocks like guns and plants which sometimes you can give to old people that have desks where they tell you to find more rocks and plants for their desks and their desks are in space but there is only one bathroom in space and they never go there so maybe they are robots also but they say things like "this is korolov" and then put their hands together for a long time until you give them more rocks and plants. i like the game cycle frontier because if you are good at cycle frontier you can have more bags that are bigger and get lots of rocks and plants and sometimes an alien head which is gross but that is ok because you can give them to the old people and never see them again.

this is the game counter strike siege which is not made by gabe newell and the big difference is you can hit walls and make them fall over when you hit them and that is the whole game.

this is the running and jumping game named skyrm where you hit people with swords and yell at them real loud so that they run away from you because you are being real loud. it is really good because you can do running and jumping all over the world even when there are no people to hit with swords. sometimes you can do running and jumping in water and sometimes you can do running and jumping in mountains and sometimes you run and jump to a box and it has jewelry in it and you can wear it and sometimes the jewelry makes you a better hitter but i have not found any jewelry that makes you a better jumping runner guy which is bad because you have to run and jump all over the world to hit the people with swords and sometimes hit dinosaurs with swords and sometimes yell at the dinosaurs but don't stand still. mel gibson told me that dinosaurs can't see you if you stand still in the movie jurasic pack but dinosaurs can definitely see you if you stand still. dont trust mel gibson because he will lie and you will get eaten by a dinosaur.

I enjoy writing joke reviews with a real rating. I can't joke about this game. This is functionally one of the best games I've ever played. It's wonderfully balanced, constantly worked on and improved upon, perfectly paced, and original. In many regards it functions as a MOBA. You push down lanes to approach and destroy the enemy's base and level up based on your team's progress. However, the lanes are not contiguous sections, you need to jump in and out which requires forethought as there's always a cooldown afterward and a spool up time within which you are 400% more vulnerable to enemy fire. The game forces you to commit to fights all over the map, ensuring frequent engagements that make use of it's spectacular art style.

There are something like 30 ships in the game and each is unique, but the gameplay itself is consistent enough for the variety to not be super overwhelmin to a new player. I've watched this game grow from a handful of ships fighting it out in blocky environments (and even then it was fun as hell) to practically a fleet of warships purging environments from icy asteroid fields to the orbit of a star of each other's presence.

This is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excellent game.

PS - all components of the game that you can pay for are skins or are available with currency achievable in game at a fairly quick rate.

Early Access Review
This is the game that you shoot alens and bad guys in the outer space with things like yellow stuff and orange stuff and purple stuff that makes them explode when their shield goes down and their health goes down after. Sometimes you can be in different places really fast and other times you can be in different places even faster. You are in a rocket ship the whole time and you get to make more things to make your rocket ship go faster and make more yellow stuff to shoot the alens and bad guys with. It is a good game 5 out of 4 stars because you sometimes see stars in the game so you get more stars than you started with.
