SPOILERS AHEAD: let me preface this by saying that if steam had a mixed rating option I would've chose that (very negative review though)

A cool concept with almost completely lacklustre and mediocre realisation.

This game while not horrible just about falls into every "bad" horror game trope/problem, extremely bad pacing, atrocious sound design, awkward and confusing areas, god awful optimisation, and almost everything being the most basic stock asset, animation, and sound.

First the pacing, the pacing in this game flat out sucks, if you want to not face any real threat for almost the whole first hour of three, have interesting set pieces dangling in front of you for far too long making them boring, and of course throwing mass amounts of enemies at you randomly, this game has it all and then some.
Realising that the "spooky monster" the game keeps teasing you with never even spawns or does what you feel it should do (hunt you), only for the grand reveal to be boring and a super easy fight really soured the latter half of this game to me, or when the game spends that first half hour teasing a fight after giving you a knife only to never give you that fight, and instead wait until you have a gun, stealth attacks also exist and to my knowledge the player is never told of their existence until they preform one themselves, and that just a few of many pacing and combat issues this game holds.

Next and probably my biggest gripe with this game is the sound design, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. Some stuff is really quiet while some is stupid loud, and the ambient noise never ends, who needs suspense and tension when you can have ear piercing metal scraping noise that's 10x louder than anything else blasted into your ears for an hour straight. (barely a joke)
But honestly the sound design really ♥♥♥♥♥ this game over, it's extremely hard to build tension, suspense or a good atmosphere when you don't have one moment of quiet through the whole game, you start outside with constant obnoxious wind sounds, only to finally get inside and be greeted by the obnoxious creaking sounds, and so on and so forth. Some sound effects are also so obviously low effort too, like the same royalty free generic siren sound you've heard in sixteen other games, or the sounds that are horrible quality for seemingly no reason, easily the worst part of this game, I probably would have enjoyed the experience more if I played on mute.

And now for the actual level design, and it's simply not all that bad, it's definitely not great by any means but while it had more than it's fair share of downs rather than ups I didn't mind it all that much, some areas are genuinely confusing and the map helps very little most of the time, and while a good 30 minutes of my playtime was mindlessly wandering around the same areas getting progressively more and more angry, when I did find the next area I didn't feel as if it was the games fault but more mine. Put simply the level design in this game is annoying and mediocre at times but not even close to it's biggest problem

Lastly, this game is optimised like ass, constant frame dips below 40 fps in some areas all while this game decided to eat upwards of 85%~ of my GPU at times, but still playable at least.

But somehow, even after all that I still enjoyed this game and I'm looking forward to trying part 2 (and hoping that some issues were fixed)

Most day's I truly believe I'd rather be castrated by a branding iron than play this game, but somehow I magically end up queuing into a match on all those days (only play this game if you absolutely hate yourself).

After over 1K hours between all platforms I can confidently say that this is truly one of the games ever.

100 hours deep and i still can't properly review this game, for I haven't even experienced half of it. What i will say though is use guides and builds (like Fezz's toxic rain champion) if you even want a chance of understanding and properly experience this game.

Only negative is that you will have to eventually have to spend money on stash tabs if you even want to have a chance at getting to more endgame content, and there is no way to really trade or earn this currency in game (unless your really good at begging, which I am unfortunately not (Pls give free money)).

In summary game = confusing and fun, just be willing to shill out a few bucks if you fall in love.

Easily one of the most influential games ever, and currently with the bot issues seemingly (possibly) fixed *for now*, it's a must play for anyone and everyone, especially if you haven't had the opportunity to enjoy this masterpiece.

Though with the bot issues the game had, and will unfortunately likely continue to have, even if Valve continues to properly intervene, it's become somewhat difficult to recommend this game to anyone who hasn't previously played it, especially when bots are at their worst.

They need to make this game less addicting, I've almost put in 400 hours across just 4 months.

Early game (first 60-100~ hours) is very slow and is definitely the most major hurdle to get through before truly enjoying this game, though it might be better to stay away before it takes over your whole existence.

Very fun, very short experience. Combat felt slightly lacking but the movement is some of the most satisfying in any game I've played.

Friend gifted me this game as a joke, so i decided i would try to 100% and get all achievements unfortunately this games design is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that its almost impossible, level 14 (out of 30) has a 2 min timer you have to complete the level within along with the fact you cant get caught, this is almost impossible I've had multiple attempts run past the timer without being able to do anything because this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game is completely luck and bad luck means its impossible complete the level no matter how many tries which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb

Fun but short game, took me about 2 hours to beat and 100% although the final achievement for having all the others wont complete for me sadly (others also seem to be having this problem)
