A short but very sweet love letter to the band Red Vox. I was surprised this game is free but it makes sense considering the audience this would appeal to would be rather small. If you happen to stumble upon this game and aren't familiar with them you might feel lost, but I still think you will get enjoyment out of this regardless. As some of the songs shown here are a great introduction to them.

What is Red Vox?
Red Vox is a indie rock band from New York with many influences. Including Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Radiohead, David Bowie, etc. They proudly wear their heart on their sleeve yet have a core tone of their own. They never stick to one sound and are never afraid to experiment. One album would be loud and angry, another melancholic but beautiful inspiration. They cover a wide range of topics from war (Atom Bomb), to school shootings (Traces), to the afterlife (A/V), to rapping garbage rats (Garbage Land), to vomiting in a ball pit and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in it (Vomit in the Ball Pit. I'm serious this is an actual song they wrote. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dilkSx23nw8) Each member of the band all have years of experience in music and are all equally important. They never compete with one another and don't come off as pretentious. They work together to create a genuine piece of art with high confidence and are unlike anyone else. Their discography is excellent. I highly, HIGHLY recommend them. They are incredibly underrated and mean alot to me.

The game itself is rather simple as it's a walkathon. You collect key items to help you progress. You can complete the game very quickly but keeps you hooked from finding all the easter eggs and references. It also features brand new tracks from the band. All of which are pretty solid. The game takes place in mostly the same area but changes as you progress. The story is hard to follow and understand (If there is any meaning to it at all). Think of it like an interactable music video. The visuals look fantastic. I love the visual storytelling the developers have done here. I don't want to spoil too much here. I think you should check it out yourself, as I mentioned prior that the game is rather short. Although I will mention I'm happy Kerosene at least got a bit of love!!! (╥‸╥)♡.

I think the only complaint I have about this game is the sudden shift in tones it can have. There are ambient tracks made by the band but it's mostly just the tracks from their discography, so it could suddenly get loud in some areas. This is a very minor con I have about it though, I still think it's worth checking out. It's free after all!!

So if you couldn't tell from my profile picture. I am a huge fan of Kiki's Delivery Service, it is my favorite movie of all time. It fills in the niche that I never really see in many games or movies, which is that comfy witch vibe. No big enemy to fight, just a comfy magic world. So when I heard that there was a game that is Kiki inspired, I was hooked.

This game is pretty solid at what it is trying to be. A cozy, laid back witchy delivery simulator. You deliver packages around the island on your magic broom, while trying to not break the packages in the process. There are some obstacles but it's not that challenging, and it can be a bit forgiving to you. For example, some packages you can't get it wet or else it will ruin it. I fell in the water a few times but the game didn't count it as being wet, and if you break an object you found you can get it back. Flying around on your broom takes a little bit to get used too but is pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Exploring the island is relaxing, It's a bit small but the game does a good job of hiding things to collect all around the map to keep your interest, but never too much that it feels repetitive. You will always find something you didn't see before every time you loop around the island. I spent a good chunk of my playthrough trying to find all of the collectibles so I can unlock the next outfit.

Art style is very pretty! It's very colorful, It reminds me of Zelda Wind Waker and A Hat in Time. The character designs and the art style is very cute! The animated cutscenes, while there are only a few, look fantastic! Big props to whoever was in charge of that because there is a lot of love and personality put into it. The soundtrack is also nice but it's nothing to write home about.

I do have a few nitpicks though. I feel like the game lacks in a bit of atmosphere in the sound effects. You're fairly quiet when you are flying around in your broom, and some areas can be pretty quiet if the music isn't playing. I also wish some characters were expanded on a bit more, I feel like some characters don't get their story expanded that much and I feel some exist to move the plot.

This game is pretty simple and knows what it wants to be. It doesn't feel too short but doesn't overstay it's welcome either. You can beat it in 4-5 if you don't go for the side quests and collectibles. The art style is very cute and I've grown attached to the characters by the end. It's a bit lacking in atmosphere sometimes and a few characters could of been fleshed out more but it doesn't hinder the experience that much. It's cute, cozy, and a neat hidden gem of 2024.

A fantastic Remaster!

It does everything I wanted and more. Visuals are enhanced without taking away the art direction, beautifully optimized, all the episodes are included along with the N64 version, A brand new episode with gorgeous visuals, the soundtrack is finally brought back, and it even has crossplay! Nightdive really nailed it out of the park.

But it's not just bells and whistles, the gameplay is also enhanced. You swap weapons much faster now, and the enemies have been reworked a bit. Berserkers are actually a threat now and jump out at you and slam the ground, pushing you far back. Flyers don't stand in one place when they do their melee attack, they move while doing it and will try to corner you. Gunners will sometimes aim their grenades in random directions to throw you off. Infantry will sometimes move around as they fire. They also brought in the gimmick from Ground Zero where enemies would jump down and ambush you. They do act a bit glitchy sometimes but I love what they done here.

They also have a neat section where you can read the descriptions for all the enemies and weapons, alongside some screenshots of beta builds and concept art.

Whether you are playing for the first time or are looking to get back into to it, now is the perfect time. I can't recommend it enough. It looks great, runs great, and plays great.
