This is just a DOWNGRADE, plain and simple.

Just 40 minutes of gameplay? You haven't played enough

That's more than enough for this game. the new gameplay concept no longer punishes you for rushing or hoarding shoes. Low HP is no longer a concern since passive health regen exists or food. It's literally spoon feeding even at the hardest difficulties. Being able to escape the death rooms just makes them more mediocre than they already are.

But there are enemy NPCs in the game now

They clip through the ground or get locked inside a room often. The attack delays are comical, they can also get harmed by traps and ignored if you cheese their movement patterns.

At least the models look decent enough in the videos...

Every asset in this game was just downgraded when compared to the predecessors. The customization and loot boxes were just taken apart, models were probably bought from some 3D store, no clothing combinations, race diversity; there's only a old asian man, a black guy and two european girls...

There are some things it gets right, like the QoL improvements; better fov, round restart, revamped lobby creation. I would be surprised if this game was playtested at all though. A enemy NPC can hurt you through walls, fire and projectile traps can harm you even if you're behind a door.

HALF DEAD 3 could have been just a update to its predecessor...

Mobile game graphics, gameplay concept is nonexistant, bugs are a feature, UI backdrops definitely taken from deviantart, sound design is awful, the combat is everything wrong with VATS in the fallout franchise and the entire game is pay to win.

Wonderful.

Another proof of steam greenlight's failure, letting a literal modpack be accepted in the store with so much kitbashing from modding communities. There's no mistake. Once you realize there's quite literally no original bone for this game aside from the maps which I do hope that it's original alongside the code.

From modded CS:S weapons in gamebanana, to character models from a chinese mmofps game that was also ported for CS:S (search gamebanana pla ct pack V1 & V2), to zombie models that are from zombie master. "But mage it's a indie/sole developer! Go easy!" I could care less, there's no excuse.

Back in the day you could get artists to work for your project by passion and getting experience in sites like interloper net for example, nowadays you can probably visit a discord server and ask for help. I do hope it's just one guy doing all the work still, not team effort otherwise i'd be even more disappointed.

The community were nice last time I played the game but I won't be surprised to see that it's filled with cheaters on the "pvp" gamemode with zombies and brainrots. I came back to play this game years ago after the first version of this review and yet, barely anything changed.

It's still the bland, repetitive, boring game and I only pity the poor soul that hasn't discovered better free alternatives like No More Room in Hell, Zombie Panic and Brainbrea- We don't talk about brainbread 2. Please stick to codename cure, get some friends, host a LAN session with radmin or dedicated server and don't try BB2.

A masterpiece of the GoldSrc Engine. Cry of fear is one of the best and unique mods for half-life 1,including Graphics Improvement to its current engine (goldsrc),amazing soundtracks and the best thing for the gamers that like horror-games...a ghastly gameplay.

The enemys can really freak you out...yeah. Okay I'll give you a hint. Lower the game sound on the asylum part.
The soundtracks are really amazing,I always hear them when I do something on the computer...like create a mod.
The graphics well,Cry of Fear seems to use a really improved version of goldsrc, using Bumpmaps,512 textures/1024 textures. Yes I know,512/1024 textures maybe nothing today, but for Goldsrc engine. that was magical.

10/10: Play if you want to be really scared. really.

First off, it's the 3D SOFTWARE that plagues mediocre, simulator or niche games visually. The guy stuck in the pot on Getting Over It, the generic character models in Brainbread 2, the upcoming brazilian GTA (171) game, the 1.99$ priced games or mobile ports in the store. Thankfully Adobe kept stripping away its features slowly through the years on the steam release, making that bad practice a lot harder.

It's a shortcut that game developers take so they don't bother with getting actual artists, thus making these games suffer the "fuse look" and just looking the same from a character design standpoint. It actually gets to a point that you can literally spot a model from this software a mile away. The presets are nice but you will quickly notice how limited it all is by default without the additional paid content, especially the human base meshes that all look the same.

The UI and built-in render likes to lag a lot and makes previewing hell sometimes. Crashing out of nowhere while exporting or simply moving the model that you have built is a common sight. If you seriously plan to use this in 2024, I wish you good luck.

Blender is a really good 3D software for people that wants to start modelling, but in my case I used mostly for the creation of mods.

  • I have 1,291 hours right now, although I don't really know how to model things that I already should be doing like Human Heads or Fancy Melees, instead of that I only make basic things most of the time.

  • I focused all my time in blender with mods creation, and blender is PERFECT for it, people might recommend 3DS Max or Maya, but if you started with blender, stay with blender.

  • One thing which I will never like is how the developers changed the interface in the newest version since I was really used on messing with it and that made me downgrade to 2.79, I hope i'm not losing too much in 2.8 and maybe someday I will come back to it.

The interface of blender on all of its versions will confuse you, that's a fact unless that you had experience with it before, one week or more to you adapt and you'll be already creating your first 3d model or, modding a already created model.

TLDR: Blender is awesome, use if you have patience.

Classic sourcemod and one of the games that makes people go Uhh-uhh does it still need Half-Life 2? in 2024. It doesn't, for a decade now come on.

The gameplay is easy to understand, survivors fight off zombies endlessly in objective maps 'till they get overwhelmed due to poor teamwork or escape if they work together or, the survivors battle against the zombies until the round timer ends in a survival map. It's not rocket science and easy to get into. HOWEVER, newcomers might have a tough time dealing with the community.

You may expect toxicity, I say it's the age of the game and the fact that there's so many players from decades ago still at it, veterans to be more precise. But if you are lucky they will teach you a thing or two while they see you die over and over.

The game's audio work still kind of holds up but the soundtracks are beyond good. Made by the same guy who did the soundtracks in Neotokyo.

No one remembers it? ♥♥♥♥.

The visuals are outdated per usual since it's a free source game, optimization is good enough, you can run this game in a celeron processor with no gpu and low physical ram/vram. The user interface aged well enough and there are plenty of options. I can't say that this is a better alternative to No More Room in Hell like other people say, but it's up there.

Better than Codename Cure or Brainbread. If you do actually end up enjoying this game, I don't think you will like its "spiritual sucessor" much, Contagion.
