Verdun is an intense, visceral experience not just for its portrayal of the rarely seen World War 1 setting, but for its brilliance of intuitive, straightforward game design.

Gameplay
Free of the excessive clutter seen in almost every shooter of the market, Verdun takes the idea of trench warfare and breaks down its fundamental concepts into fantastically accessible gameplay for the player. In the game's main mode, at any time you are either defending your current trench, or attacking the next one in front. With column like maps with a clear right direction and wrong direction to move you ALWAYS know where to go and what to do in the blasted fields and wastelands of Europe. It is because of this that Verdun naturally causes players to work with their team, even if they don't mean to. You will always have your teammates in the trenches with you, firing at approaching Germans. You will always feel as though you are part of your force.

Weapons
While the overall game flow is exceptionally straightforward, the weapons and movement are all deftly handled to promote an astonishing level of realism. Armed with a classic bolt action rifle such as the British SMLE, a single round almost always will end in a satisfying crumpling of a hopeful German. With this realistic behavior, death is always a fear as you keep your head down in the trenches, or cry prone in a crater in no mans land and machine gun fire chatters inches above you.

Sound
The immersion is completed by the exceptional sound design with immensely satisfying cracks of rifles and the distant (or not so distant) thunder of rolling artillery. Despite its tiny team, Verdun has one of the best soundscapes I've heard.

Graphics
Surprisingly fantastic, the team has managed to build astonishing artwork of all the military assets used. Most importantly for me however, is the incredible attention paid to the trenches. Puddles of mud are everywhere, clutter from the soldiers living, and the damp dirt engulfing you makes you feel like you in a truly terrible place.

An absolutely fantastic experience for any fans of antiquated combat, or anyone who wants to be immersed in the hell of war without the usual associated downtime.

I'm not someone who is intimitely familiar with platformers nor am I someone accustomed to the blissful feeling of completeing games. These were the two reasons why I felt like I had to play this after being seduced by the vivid colors and humerous writing, and I'm so glad I played Guacamelee.

Guacamelee brings me back to playing the old Metroid games on my Gameboy Advance, and the game knows it. Entire game mechanics are in-jokes which are a small part of the fantastic sense of humor of this title. The game takes place in technically an open world, where you can go to any area at any time, assuming you've unlocked the required move to reach the location. Despite being open, you will ALWAYS know exactly where to go, and the areas area small enough as to not feeling like any time is wasted traveling.

Unlike Metroid, Guacamelee features a fantastic brawling combat system which was deftly designed to grow in complexity at the perfect rate I was learning the game. Without being hindered by petty realism, you get to beat to staisfyingly beat up skeletons and throw them at their friends. Boss fights are almost always challenging but so incredibly satisfying when victorious.

The game is wrapped in a nice simple ~6 hour story where I always knew what my purpose was and what the stakes are. It's nothing very emotional but it succeded in giving the gameplay meaning.

All in all, Guacamelee was an incredibly satisfying game to complete and I'd recomend it to anyone interested in the genre of 2D platforming adventures.

This game is currently quite difficult to run on pretty much any computer when you're in the thick of it. Besides that, it is a surpsisingly good MASSIVE scale shooter where team play really does count. I would recomend holding off on it until the miracle optimization patch is released later this year.

This is one of those few games that's truly different from anything else out there. Imagine the creature creating from Spore combine with the physics of... well... physics, and you've got the absolutely amazing game/life known as Kerbal Space program. This game forces you to learn legitemate orbital mechanics and bamn, it's rewarding. Nothing beats spending at least 2 hours building a rocket, seeing it annihilate itself time after time on the launch pad or a few minutes after but then having it succesfely touch down on the Mun.
If you like rockets and space flight, it would be a crime for you to not get this game.

Seriously GO AND BUY IT!

It's vital to understand that this game is a platform. The things you can do in Arma 3 vary substantially as you explore the well made campaign, community made missions, and popular pvp game modes. Without downloading any of the amazing free mods, Arma 3 has the potential to provide some of the greatest experiences of natural vicious combat possible in gaming. When played with a microphone with or without known friends, teamwork effortlessly comes as you end up doing whatever you can to NOT DIE.

Because the game has so many options to play, you may find yourself playing boring game modes, or thrown together single player community made missions. This is why I'd like to recommend a couple ways for you to enjoy this astonishing. Creating or joining a group delving into medium to large scale COOP encounters is absolutely staggering. While some groups require entire application processes, more casual ones exist that are still incredibly fun such as Reddit's /r/ProjectAwesome. If you just wanna jump in for a a couple hours instead of scheduling events a week in advance, check out the ever present King of the Hill servers (preferably infantry only). Whatever you do, USE A MIC and DON'T BE SHY! You get from this game what you put into it so interacting with others will enhance your enjoyment tremendously.

Once you find the way you like to play here, I can promise, despite its flaws, that every facet of design will coalesce into a truly unique experience that will give you mind numbing moments you will never forget.

I wasn't expecting this to be anything more than a game I'd play once in awhile but it quickly became a game that I will never forget due to the minute to minute sense of dread and fear over every action you take as a single wrong move will end withe the demise of one of your beloved soldiers you've spent so much time decking out to your personal taste.

SH&%$ I FORGOT THEY WERE USING OVERWATCH! DOOFUS NOT YOU!!!!

You will be avenged Doofus.
