Like the original, but more dynamic.

I wanted to like this game but it is not for me. I do hope it serves as a gateway into gaming for people that don't have much experience otherwise. Open Roads delivers on its advertisement; I guess I was just hoping for something more than a walking simulator and conversations with mom.

This game is a survival RPG masterpiece. Plenty to do in early game as you learn how to keep yourself alive and craft tools to expand your abilities. Timed events that add to story but don't impact gameplay are a welcome game mechanic. Points of Interest are periodically added to HUD through in game radio / SOS system, provides just enough guidance to help player explore large open world, prod in the right direction.

I love that the game plops you into the relative center of the map and for the rest of the game you are essentially exploring further and further from your spawn point, but it make an excellent base of operation that you can keep coming back to and coordinate the end-game objective from.

Idk, it's just a masterpiece of a game, it has all the right elements and they're all executed perfectly.

One of a kind. Difficult learning curve but stick with it and you'll be rewarded with one of the best RPGs ever made.

I think this might be my favorite game of all time :')

I am excited on behalf of all the people for which this experience remains ahead of them.

Things that are great about this game:
- the graphics
- the lore
- size of map
- the attention to detail to the source material
- combat system

Things that detract from the gaming experience:
- monotonous lock puzzle mechanism
- loot system is half baked
- underdeveloped economy
- lack of character development system
- POIs all start to look the same
- all tasks get boringly repetitive.
- the story & ending.. oof. ugh. hack.

In hindsight i should have waited for this game to go on sale to purchase. It was fun and at times awe inspiring but i don't see much replay value.

Honestly, this game does not live up to the hype. There are certainly enjoyable aspects to it - I like the macabre elements, visuals, the size of the world. I enjoy metroidvania type games in general. But a lot of the lore is non-sensical and incoherent. The map and travel systems are frustrating. There is not enough exploration guidance provided; I feel like I have to constantly revisit areas and commit them to memory in order to make progress. I keep acquiring new skills/spells that don't seem to further my progress or ability to explore further in the game. This game is evidence that it is possible for a game to be "too" open-world. Not enough (barely ANY) clues to provide direction on what your capabilities are or where to go next.

The game mechanics generally do not feel well-balanced - like it is a relic of a bygone era of inefficient gaming, but it was released in 2017.

This game reminds me of Ori & the Blind Forest except that it is maybe 70% as enjoyable.

The developers communicate well but have clearly indicated their priorities are not in order. They are too focused on trying to make the game *perfect* when they should be focusing on making it *fun and playable*. Instead, it is just frustrating. Life is hard enough trying to find 3 other people to play the same game with (which is absolutely a necessity for this game.) But then the real punishment comes in the form of brutal RNG and patches that nerf player abilities.

I really want to like this game and I hope someday the developers iron out all the issues. It's off of my radar for now.
