As you learn the game you can use the above 'cheats' less and less, until none at all. Without them i'm pretty sure i'd have gotten discouraged and given up, but the first few games? Couldn't do it without them. Now the only command I use is instantconstruction which might be replaced with a faster construction mod since I feel construction takes FAR too long, manpower is still 50/50 I don't feel that it's an accurate representation of how much of your population you can recruit.

It's an ok point & click game, I play it to kill time

Take everything that frustrates you with civ, and other turn based strategy games, and crank it up a notch. Then, take all the great ideas, the innovations, the things you anticipated with baited breath, and throw them in the trash. Then when you're done, make the UI as clunky and confusing as humanly possible, and call it Civilization VI
