Sometimes a group of us friends would all get on to play a quick round before matchmaking in another game.
Each of us would be drawn to a different characters playstyle, or set of upgrades.
Single player is doable, but the more the merrier.

For a Roguelike, it's shorter than others I've played, but that just lets it tease you with how close to the end you are.
The art and music give you a strange sense of awe as you jump around trying not to get killed by lava snakes.
The controls might feel a little sticky, but that just makes the danger all the more present while you search for upgrades during the charge time.

Find the Teleporter. Stay alive.

I grew up on the old Crimsonland and it showed me how good top-down shooters can be.
The improved graphics and updated UI make a much more clean and modern look for the old classic.
Removing perks in quests made them a little harder but I feel I accomplished more and improved my general skills without them.

Crimsonland is more about survival mode anyway, enjoying the well-crafted mechanics of the game and shooting up lots of monsters, painting the land crimson.
