There is a form of gambling in the game in the form of dices. But in this case it is just a game mechanic.

Early Access Review
I am currently using the version I bought from the Laminar site as the Steam Linux version is broken. Sent both Laminar and Valve a report on it but, apart of the standard Valve support reply, I got radio silence.

Edit: I got a reply from LR and sent in a complete report when asked. Later they asked me for the log.txt file of the non-Steam version which worked. As of this time they are actively working with Valve to resolve this issue.

Apart from that I really like this iteration of the sim. Are there issues? Of course. Its still a pre-release. But I find every single session very enjoyable. Doing a water take off with the Cessna on floats is a challenge where you really have to mind the proper procedures and have a valid weight and balance. Very nice.

Performance is a positive too. Even my laptop with a RTX 3050 with 4GB runs it.

Fight dynamics are what I am used to from XP11 with improvements.

Testing with the vanilla version as of this time. Add-ons will come later.

Played Northgard before and loved it. This combines Northgard's game mechanics with the Dune franchise.

Northgard was a Linux native game. This one is Windows only but runs perfectly well via Proton.

If you are into building PC's, like me, or want to learn how to do so then this is for you.

You start out with some virtual hardware (DFL, Mortone and Shean). The real simulation begins after a few builds when hardware is unlocked which actually exists in the real world.

And that's the interesting part because one big part of the hobby is to select compatible hardware which gives you the most bang for your buck.

I can never build a completely new system every week or so in real life. This simulator lets you. It also gave some good ideas for when the time comes for me to build an actual PC to replace the one I use now. For example, i've seen a selection of cases and because those are rendered in detail you get a good idea if a case works for you.

Oh yes, if you are fed up with the in game audio you can switch to online streaming services via the media player on the desktop at the counter.

Have fun!

Four hours in. Really liking it thus far. Some are saying that it is a bit short and that the characters are a bit shallow. Personally I think that Obsidian is testing the waters to see how the game is received.

I really hope that Obsidian will further develop a good lore around this world because I think the reason the characters are a bit shallow is that these have no history yet.

I also hope that the game will be fully moddable. Its good to see that there already is some basic modding available, however, support for more advanced mods would elevate this game to another level.

Played under Fedora Linux using GloriousEggroll's Proton 5.9-GE-7-ST

Beautifully done! A testimony of the love the dev team has for this franchise!

As a Linux user I'm especially excited about the cooperation the dev team sought with the community to make the best experience possible. And as a bonus, its open source! Opening up a world of possibilities in the modding scene.

Well done! This should be the standard for all games!

Get a decent racing wheel with force feedback for this one because you'll need it!

Amazing when you sense through your steering wheel that the front tyres are skipping over the tarmac! Wow.

In case you're running Linux. I choose the Wine Steam DXVK version because I wanted the Direct3D to Vulcan layer to utilize my AMD card. It runs pretty much the same as on Windows. Pitty my racing wheel isn't fully supported yet. Once that is the case I can enjoy this sim even more.
