This is a great implementation of the board game. The beautiful artwork is preserved, and the atmosphere is augmented with bird calls and an extremely gentle and calming soundtrack. I have not bothered trying to play multiplayer; for me, this is a single-player game to sit back and relax with.

It scratches the old X-Wing itch very well. The story is decent. The loadout system is interesting with lots of room for variation. The power management is superior to the old games. The visuals are nice. The Fleet Battles are fun, especially playing with a group of friends.

Are there some rough edges? Yeah, sounds like there are, though I personally haven't seen any bugs. Is the PvP balance perfect? Nah, but what other competitive game ever had exceptional balance at launch? The devs have been pretty communicative so far and seem willing to update the game to fix these issues.

I'm usually not a fan of "dice roller" games; they feel too random. This one has a great balance of RNG and strategy.

It's difficult for me to recommend this game highly enough. The game itself ticks a lot of the right checkboxes for me. The game systems are intuitive enough that you can blunder through without looking at the numbers too hard, but they're also deep enough to really appeal to the min/maxers out there. There's a wide variety of profitable activities, letting you choose how you want to proceed. The storylines are fun, but you can totally ignore them if you want.

I think it's the developers and their engagement with the community that really makes this game special. The developers are very approachable and willing to answer questions. They're willing to listen to suggestions about game play or UI issues. They update all the time, usually with a few nuggets of new content to explore. This game would be okay without the devs, but with the Trese Brothers, it's really great.

Once you've figured it out, this is a great game to sit back and relax with. Sometimes you just don't feel like blasting the aliens or gathering the resources yourself. Sometimes you just want someone else to do it while working towards your master plan. This game lets you do that.
