you should never eat a "cow" unless its all ground up into hamburger.... cows are often slaughtered if they have health problems or consistently have birthing problems (such as do not get pregnant) and are then slaughtered say at 6 years old, at which point you would only want to use the meat for inexpensive / discounted hamburger. For various cuts of meat including steaks, you want yourself a nice steer, no more than 2 years old. Grass fed, but finished with alfalfa hay and grain. MMMMM now thats tasty... no veal, unless its dairy cow bulls that are harvested a bit early but are not kept in pens that do not allow them to lie down or walk, that is mostly Illegal in Canada now, and very cruel.
