I have seen many people review this game as more of a negative experience to which I believe is irrationally unfair and uncanny.

So here is my attempt at a fairly decent but unbiased review.

Sid Meier's offers users to experience a simulation of the 'perfect' world they want to create, whether you're a warmonger or pacifist no one is to judge (apart from the computer telling you how 'wrong' your government is). Coming from a Civ background I have experienced change in the game which was needed to enhance its development. There are some games similar to Civ but none that really compete in similarity; Age of Empires, Cities: Skylines, Football Manager.

Judging a game because it 'crashes all the time', or 'is to slow paced', have work arounds to these issues and the variety at which you can visually change your game is amazing, from a layout perspective I love to use Pangea or a water based Earth. That is just the beginning, there are hundreds if not thousands of randomly generated maps to which you can choose the pace of your game or duration, from slow to incredibly fast where you will research sciences quickly, this is entirely up to the player and their style of game.

Admittedly at a certain point where the game might not have long left or if you're going for a particular style of victory, the game, sometimes can feel boring or prolonged which I understand for some, but knowing that this specific game requires dedication and can be time consuming, why would you even buy a game like this knowing its game duration? It's about perseverance and determination to finish what you started.

Civilization VI is essentially a different category of game in its raw form, no it’s not an FPS shooter or Racing game, and is one of the more niche markets where it won’t sell millions and millions of copies which I think Firaxis understand.

The game is fun and the negative reviews are just taking a dig at some really unnecessary points which is unfair. The game is fun in my opinion, I think purchasing it and playing for maybe an hour or two will really give the player an idea if it's a game for them.
