The largest thing I have to say before (moreso when than if) you get started... is that the first expansion (lvl 1-50) goes by pretty fast, but may feel slightly boring at times.. just please PLEASE pay attention to the story, as every single moment.. every single cutscene will mean much more the further you progress. You absolutely get the beginning feel that "No one knows who I am, nor should they.. but I shall grow stronger, and help those who I can"... just like in real life, the little things almost feel like a waste of time, but they lead into bigger things. ARR (First expansion) absolutely does have it's good moments, but it's so easy to pass them up unintentionally. That (skipping) part.. you'll find yourself much less tempted in further expansions, eventually getting to the point where you don't want to miss a single word anyone says, and as such, you will absorb a LOT, and it's all gold.

Aside from all that, I HEAVILY recommend finding a FC (Free Company) to help with the (largely optional) grind, like doing maps (treasure hunting) for money, or doing the dailies (set of duties) to help level other classes you are wanting to pursue. Just note, doing the main story quest will EASILY level your 1st class, so this is more so if you feel like you want to learn/play different playstyles, like healer/tank/melee/ranged, having good friends helps. To find one, I'd either point to reddit, discord (there's a semi-unofficial/official discord), or in my case.. just be a Lalafell (the short, potato, looking race). Seriously, it's one of those things where I just sat in the middle of a Lalafell circle in Limsa, and they just invited me to Discord to talk.. and it just kept going from there.

As for a piece of warning, which applies to everything online, there are sometimes creepy/dumb people.. I don't see them much (probably because I'm a guy), but just be aware, and if you feel uncomfortable, feel free to bail. Also, some people aren't the best at controlling anger/patience, which is only really relevant for extreme raids (fun challenges, but you'll want to find a good group). In general, always assume you have room to grow (in skill), rather than focus on others, and you'll be fine. (might need the extra transparency about the (lack of) experience to cool down others)... just know in extreme raids, you will die, as will everyone.. a lot. Also don't blame the healers plz.

Anyways, have fun! Enjoy the wild wild ride you'll be on for the next few months.

This game.. A love letter to a genre that once used to be. If, in the GameCube/N64 days, you loved Banjo Kazooie, dk64, hell, even Super Mario 64.. play this game.. It's.. amazing..

Early Access Review
The best recreation of one of my favorite games of all time! If you havn't played this or the original Half Life, PLEASE play this. You will NOT regret it. (and yes I recommend buying this rather than getting BM Source (free). These developers deserve the money.
